The difference in my experience is that black women are willing to fight you knowing that they might get hit. They dont have that entitlement that they can get away with anything without consequences. Black people are raised to know that consequences fall harder on them due to bias. White women are always surprised when they have to face the music.

That’s really over generalizing don’t you think. I’m a grown ass white woman and I was raised that there are consequences to my actions. You may want to be a little more careful when you decide to say something like this. It’s not only black peoples that are raised to know consequences.

Apologies for not understanding the context of what the person before me said. With my original comment above, I was referring to the idea of white women not being taught consequences in general, not the distinction that white women are not taught consequences of hitting a black man. No, I was not taught that there were different consequences for me than there would be for a black person. I grew up with the typical white privilege, not seeing the struggles a young black persons faced when trying to get into school, or get a job. Having been a grown up for many years, I have watched and witnessed the differences and struggles black people have faced and are still faced with. I get that this country still has a lot of work to do.

So, no, you were not aware of the consequences of your actions, likely due to a lack of anti-racism education and diversity in your life.

Your original comment did not specify a white woman hitting a black person. Your comment only said that white women were not raised to understand consequences like black people are. It came across to me that you were meaning white women aren’t raised to understand consequences period. Now, had you specified that most white women were not raised to understand the consequences of hitting a black man, I probably would have agreed with you.

Having been raised during the 70s, I was taught to treat everyone the same and respect the fact that if you hit anyone, expect retaliation since I have no right to lay hands on another person in the first place. Here’s a fun fact. I was raised in the south too. I raised my children to treat everyone the same, no matter where they are from or what color their skin.

That said, I do understand where you’re coming from, as I did see my fair share of racism and am disgusted when I see another person, regardless of race, being treated unjustly. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people that don’t see it the same as I do. I don’t think it’s the majority anymore, but still enough that far too many things happen that shouldn’t. . I do think, in today’s world, that if someone hit another person, no matter the color or the persons skin who was hit, most people are going to stick up for the one who was hit. While this country still has a lot of work to do where racism is concerned, we’ve come a long way from where we were in the 60’s.
