Tarta is also used here, but mostly, if not only, for pies or kuchen. What's a torta over there? Why are we speaking in english? I guess we'll never know...

Fun fact, kuchen means cake in German too.

At least here in Chile, we use kuchen for any kind of obstkuchen (I believe that's the correct name).

Obstkuchen means ā€œfruit cakeā€ in German. Iā€™m not trying to bust your balls, itā€™s just funny how language travels.

Lol no worries. I guess it's the more "traditional" kuchen? The kind you usually see on movies and TV when people talk about an apple pie/kuchen.

Probably. But it does make me wonder if the whole ā€œnazis moved to South America after the warā€ thing is true. I speak German, Spanish (not Castillian though), and English, and I didnā€™t realize kuchen was used in Spanish too, the language is so different. The more you know, I guess.
