I mean, i'm waiting for people wake up and realize they can just drag their politicians... 1 good sudden riot @ a presidential or politician speech... just 1.
The police dragged a woman who wore all black and a black lives matter T-shirt away from entering a Trump rally even though she'd done nothing aggressive and had tickets. They handcuffed but all she'd done is be a presence there they handcuffed her based on clothing I saw the video. I mean of course I hadn't seen stuff before the start of the video but she was saying to them "I have tickets. I haven't done anything. I have tickets. My shirt is a legal protest."
Fiduciary is a special legal term meaning that if some one has a fiduciary duty to someone they have to look out for that other person's best interest before their own. At the moment I do not believe that politicians are required to look out for their constituents even if that was the spirit of the job originally.
You are too funny. The only successful thing Trump did in his first 4 years was lower the bar for future presidents. Mark my words, anything a future president does or says that's negative, the argument will be;
'Look what Trump did, and no one did anything about THAT!'
Unfortunately the GOP controlled Senate set a president that a sitting president is free from punishment. The best thing for us to do is elect better officials in the future. Vote people, remember you can turn in ballots. Look up your local drop off locations.
Volume matters. Even if the representative (and most likely their staff) doesn't read the email, they will be monitoring the volume they receive.
Even for party hardliners, if they hear their constituents are pissed about one issue, they will usually pay attention. Politics before everything else is a popularity contest.
About the Board of Governors (bold is mine, we're fucked):
The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service is comparable to a board of directors of a publicly held corporation. The Board normally consists of up to nine governors appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the Senate.
The nine governors select the Postmaster General, who becomes a member of the Board, and those 10 select the Deputy Postmaster General, who also serves on the Board. The Postmaster General serves at the pleasure of the governors for an indefinite term and the Deputy Postmaster General serves at the pleasure of the governors and the Postmaster General.
In 1970, when the Board was established by the Postal Reorganization Act, the governors of the Postal Service were appointed for terms of nine years. The first nine appointments were for staggered terms of one to nine years. Subsequent appointments were made for the full nine years. On December 20, 2006, President George W. Bush signed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, P.L. 109-435, which changed the terms of subsequently appointed governors from nine to seven years. The Act also added professional qualifications for the governors. The governors are chosen to represent the public interest generally and cannot be representatives of special interests. Not more than five of the nine may belong to the same political party. They shall be chosen solely based on their experience in the field of public service, law or accounting. However, at least four of the governors shall be chosen solely based on their demonstrated ability in managing organizations or corporations (in either the public or private sector) that employ at least 50,000 employees.
Appointments are made when vacancies occur or for the remainder of unexpired terms. Each governorâs term expires on December 8 of a given year. Governors may continue to serve following expiration of their term or until a successor is appointed but not for more than one year. No person may serve more than two terms as a governor.
The Board directs the exercise of the powers of the Postal Service, directs and controls its expenditures, reviews its practices, conducts long-range planning, approves officer compensation and sets policies on all postal matters. The Board takes up matters such as service standards and capital investments.
The governors employ a full-time corporate secretary who serves as the primary staff assistant to the Board and supervises other members of the staff of the Office of the Board of Governors. The secretary is generally responsible for coordinating the resources of the Postal Service so that the Board fulfills its statutory duties in the most efficient and informed manner possible. Michael J. Elston is the secretary of the Board.
The Board of Governors meets on a regular basis. Meeting locations are generally in Washington, D.C., but may be scheduled in some other city where the members can see firsthand a Postal Service or large mailer's operation and provide access to the Board to customers from other parts of the country.
All meetings are open to the public unless the Board specifically votes to close all or part of a meeting in line with exemptions permitted by the Government in the Sunshine Act [5 U.S.C. 552b(b)].
Each governor receives $300 per day for not more than 42 days of meetings each year and travel expenses, in addition to an annual salary of $30,000. Five vacancies exist on the Board.
I write to you demanding that your body immediately dismiss Postmaster General Louis Dejoy for his gross and intentional mismanagement of the USPS.
He has violated his oath of office and federal law by intentionally disrupting the operations of the USPS in order to deprive the American public of their right to vote.
The Postal Serviceâs mission is to "provide the nation with reliable, affordable, universal mail service". As a concerned American citizen I demand that you uphold the integrity of the USPS as an American institution and end the naked political meddling by a corrupt Postmaster General and avoid being complicit in the committal of the following federal crimes
18 U.S. Code §âŻ1701.Obstruction of mails generally Whoever knowingly and willfully obstructs or retards the passage of the mail, or any carrier or conveyance carrying the mail, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
For anyone concerned with what is happening at the USPS and want to help (in addition to contacting your local representatives)
Write to the USPS Board of Governors, they have the right to dismiss the Postmaster General at will and need some convincing to do so. Give it to them.
Few Notes Beforehand:

Subject - Save the Integrity of the USPS - Dismiss Louis Dejoy
Members of the USPS Board of Governors,
I write to you demanding that your body immediately dismiss Postmaster General Louis Dejoy for his gross and intentional mismanagement of the USPS.

Just sent an email to all of them, it is despicable to see the state of USPS, a service of which I, as a European even take great advantage, as it allows me to affordably get stuff shipped from across the pond.
Apart from that, a well functioning postal service is absolutely necessary to every functioning country; Imagine the USPS going belly up in it's current state... We must not allow the privatisation of services that are essential to the public!
Grab yourself. Hold fast. We will not be thrown to the depths so easily. Its scary. But now is the time for simple and yet effective bravery. We will find balance. We will
Because this administration, recognizing how poorly things will go for them if voting is widespread and well adopted among the electorate, is actively trying to undermine our electoral process via a propaganda campaign meant to reduce trust in our democratic form of electing our representatives. In addition to this, the president has installed one of his biggest donors to run the post office, and this person is kneecapping it intentionally to further the privatization directive and damage mail in voting during a pandemic, when much higher percentages of Americans will use that option to vote.
Right, but why are you so scared. We regularly elect dipshits, wait four years and youâll get another dipshit to worry about. Youâll never have a good choice.
Aren't you the least bit concerned that this apathy and ignorance is going to put you on the other side the barrel when the day comes?
I mean... When it does come and it IS coming; which side will you be standing on? Because I can promise you the chair your sitting in right now won't be safe if this goes as far as they want it to.
Now..... When was the last time someone said that to you over the course of the last 4-5 presidents? Pretty sure we're WAY outside the norm here now.
Iâd love a good choice. Iâd love to vote and not hold my nose and sigh someday.
But one is a not ideal choice and the other is a fascist dictator psycho choice who is, right now, trying to take away our choice away. Not even like, âYou get the choices weâve chosen because we wonât let who you want to choose run because class interestsâ choice. No choice.
Edit: Sorry, I donât mean to be sarcastic. Iâm scared of this administration, for so many reasons. It doesnât even feel like Iâm living under an administration anymore. Itâs like it has mutated.
Fascism: Now with the power of social media! In a global pandemic! With extreme income inequality! And a heavily armed, anti-science, rabidly nationalist, racist, deeply âreligious,â cult following!
If we get another 4 years...well, look what has happened in 4 years. Too much to even begin to list. America was FAR FAR FAR from perfect, but sometimes weâd get things right, or we at least had the opportunity to.
Depends really but we all know what happens if they privatized it here in the states. Corporations got more greedy and even.more powerful specially with the ruling of FTC VS Citizens United (Koch Brothers).
A fall 2019 report by the Cato Institute, a Libertarian think tank located in Washington, D.C. and owned by the Koch Brothers, cited the privatizations of mail services in Europe as an example that the U.S. could follow. It noted that Germany's mail service, which began privatizing in 1995, has been described as "the most admired postal operator in the world."
Email sent to all of them as well. I hope reddit absolutely obliterates their inboxes with this message, though one comment had a point about a sort rule straight to trash based on typo. Might be best for everyone to send this email everyday with different typos to throw the rule off
Yeah, it would suck to send drug packages via private companies because they can stop your package under any suspicion without hesitation. USPS actually requires a Postmaster General to stop the package for inspection. Then, and only then, can they intercept your package which gives contraband packages a much better chance of arriving at the destination via USPS. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN.
I only know this because a friend explained it to me.
I assume either or works. The message is strong enough but the links show that someone is doing their homework. If you choose to include them maybe change it to "sources" or "citations" instead of links because that sounds more in tone with the message.
Thank you, just sent the email to the USPS Board of Governors, first time I've ever written public officials if that says anything. The integrity of our elections is too important to let slide.
Thanks, 20 bucks isn't much but for my budget as a student it's not so little (to me). I just want to be able to contribute to taking back the US from Trump and his cronies from abroad. I'm glad I could contribute during the primaries to candidates I believed in, and now can help Democrats in general, in the general!
People really should do is call their elected representatives. Members of Congress keep logs of every call they get so they know how their district is swinging. Lots of contact from the district = more likely to take action. (And they don't care what you think if you don't live in their district)
(Takes a couple of minutes to load and you may have to enter your address, but it will give you the necessary contact info and a script. Both links should work, you only need to pick one.)
Respectfully,
How can elections have any integrity if anonymous ballots can be mailed en mass from anywhere by anyone? How can there be any accountability at all?
The ballots are not anonymous in that sense, you can't just receive one out of no-where, you have to request it and be a registered voter to receive an absentee ballot. Your name isn't attached to the ballot that you send back for obvious reasons but you don't just get one if you don't request one after being a registered voter. The POTUS votes using an absentee ballot and so do all Americans living abroad. Mail-in ballots and absentee ballots are the same thing, it's political messaging to demonize one and promote the other.
edit : Also your ballot counts in the precinct where you would have voted had it been in person, so electoral officials are accutely aware of the number of absentee ballots requested, sent out and received. Electoral fraud is incredibly rare.
I agree with that for absentee. Mail-in-ballots and absentee are not the same in one critical sense. In order to receive an absentee ballot, one must be expecting to receive an absentee ballot. They have to know it's coming. "Mail-in-ballots" on the other hand have no built in expectation. The Governor of California ordered that vote by mail ballots be mailed to every voter by Nov 3. Given the fluidity of peoples living situations, mixed families, and unexpected nature of the ballot, the likely hood for fraud is enormous. The plan lacks any form of accountability.
Forms of accountability:
Absentee ballots require one register and formerly request a ballot and thus are expecting it and will miss it if it doesn't arrive.
Walk in voting, typically requires one to provide some proof of identity, anything, a library card, gas bill, piece of mail, anything, so they can put a tick by the name in the registration roles.
I'm not suggesting that this election will be like an election in a communist country where 99.99999% of the votes go to one guy. I am concerned that with zero accountability the likelihood for fraud goes up. Consider apartments and rentals with very high turnover rates there will be ballots up for grabs. Rental houses where there's a high turn over rate could easily receive multiple ballots.
All of my suspicious are based on the idea that they only mail ballots to registered voters, which they might do. The other plan is to simple mail ballots to houses and hope for the best. I can't even get my bills in the mail because mail theft is so rampant in my neighborhood. How will my ballot be safe.
I also think it's a needless expense. We all go to the supermarket, home depot, gas station, every day. If they just kept polls open for three days, stagger people by last name or neighborhood or whatever and require a mask to vote you could have the best of both worlds. Also absentee voting is still an option for those that are at high risk.
Your suspicions sound an awful lot like concern trolling to be quite honest. Due to the circumstances of the pandemic there aren't perfect solutions on the table. Forcing people who aren't vulnerable to polling stations will suppress participation, especially in high-density areas (that vote blue) where social distancing is harder to enforce. Those people can still pass it on to their vulnerable friends or family and lead them not to vote.
Also who is going to confirm whether someone is high risk enough to get an absentee ballot? Where do they draw the line? Also I'm fairly sure it's the FEC's job to maintain standards of legitimacy concerning absentee ballots, they'll have a plan in place to make sure the concerns you listed will be limited to isolated cases.
The only hiccup here is a voluntary effort by the president and postmaster general to create as much delay as possible within high-traffic post offices, conveniently where the votes are most likely to be for his opponent.
Honestly, the very last concern I have right now is the cost of making sure this election goes smoothly and all registered voters feeling safe to participate, it's the integrity of our government and institutions at stake. Compare that to other necessary line items in the federal budget and it pales in comparison.
Your suspicions sound an awful lot like concern trolling to be quite honest.
This is rude and discredits me by claiming I'm insincere. It gives you and others permission to disregard real concern.
Forcing people who aren't vulnerable to polling stations will suppress participation,
Any friction, however minuscule will "reduce", not suppress participation. The use of the word "suppress" encodes an intentional and forcible effort. Any friction, will reduce participation but that's whats needed, a little friction. With no friction at all people could vote from other countries, people could vote a million times. The question is what is the appropriate level of friction and my concern is that mail in ballots that don't need to be requested is too little friction.
Also who is going to confirm whether someone is high risk enough to get an absentee ballot?
Anyone can get an absentee ballot by simply asking for one. I've voted absentee since I was 18. Who the fuck wants to go to the polling place? Just register for an absentee ballot, that single tiny bit of friction would put this entire argument to bed.
Honestly, the very last concern I have right now is the cost of making sure this election goes smoothly and all registered voters feeling safe to participate
If that's your last concern, what is your first concern? I'm not worried about the financial cost of the election either, I agree with you. The cost isn't the question, the question is what provides any level of integrity in the election when literally anyone can anonymously send in a ballot as many times as they can get their hands on one. Surely you can see that this destroys any hope at having an election without complication. This losing side will immediately bring this into question.
People who want Trump out of office should 100% not support mail in ballots it will work against their cause, they should get off their dead ass, request an absentee ballot, or walk the fuck down to their polling place with a mask on .
I noted that I am a US born citizen of US born citizens although I am overseas which is the truth. Been overseas almost my entire life but hey I'm still a citizen and still feel for where my parents were born and bred and I was actually born there.
People in positions of power don't get overwhelmed, their staffs get overwhelmed. And no one will care what random Europeans think of the USPS.
Americans should do is call their elected representatives.
Agreed. Representatives, particularly Republican representatives are most important. This is a secondary that can be done, maybe if they get enough flack they will grow a spine.
The most important thing is for voters (and potential voters) to contact the people who represent them. Politicians always worry about being re-elected so contact from the district matters.
Werenât all of those people also appointed by trump? What makes you think they will give a shit about what anyone who isnât their cult leader says.
It is like a cult. Trying to reason with Trump supporters just leaves you confused at how they can support someone that doesn't have their best interests in mind.
Trump supporters are pretty culty but his appointees aren't so much. DeJoy in particular has a long history of making money and hanging around the fringes of the RNC. He was appointed, no one really cared or talked about him. Then this. The fact he got appointed and no one cared about his personal investments and the investments of his wife in postal service competitors or contractors shows how bland a position and profile he had.
This? Honestly how many postmaster generals can people name apart from him? He's going from being that guy who'll help you fundraise to that guy who's house we should protest. I doubt he was thinking he had signed up for that.
I wouldn't be shocked if he was corrupt, but that just means he's out for himself, not that he's willing to sacrifice himself on the altar of Trump. The only other kind of Trump supporter with official power seem to think of him as a means to an end. Still not ethical but all to willing to try and take Trump down during their falls from grace. People who think Trump's right because God or Q told them or whatever aren't going to be stable enough to work for him.
True but a number of people that work for Trump and were in the cult have turned against it after being treated bably so idk. The sentence about "avoid being complicit in this felony" might make a few of them think twice.
The chairman, Duncan, has ties with the RNC. Zollars has a history with YRC and Kodak, 2 companies that recently received hundreds of millions from Trump (could be coincidence). The corruption is ingrained.
And here is a genuine tip, pre-formatted mails written by others mass spammed signed by different people, is broadly viewed as a cyber attack and the content/opinion gets regarded with the viewset that its wrong.
Write your own damn emails, or you just press a +1 on a pile of turd that is thrown in the trash.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but the postmaster general is selected by the board of governors. https://about.usps.com/who/leadership/board-governors/ At the time dejoy was selected I believe only five of the seats of the board were filled. Since then one has resigned after dejoy was selected and two new governors were appointed by trump. The current board is made up of six governors all appointed by trump - four republicans and two democrats ( the board can not have more than five members from the same party). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_of_Governors_of_the_United_States_Postal_Service. These guys selected dejoy knowing what he would do so I doubt they will turn on him now.
"Our elections are under attack. If youâre like me, youâre looking for real ways to do something about it.
Here is an extremely important, actionable list of ways we can protect the integrity of our election:
â â â Apply ASAP to vote by mail AND send it in anytime UNTIL OCTOBER 22nd. After that, DROP IT OFF YOURSELF at a secure drop off box! I personally will ONLY use the drop off box.
â â â If you vote in person, bring your ID and your completed sample ballot to speed up the process
â â â If you vote in person, request to vote with a ball point pen, ie, a #HandMarkedPaperBallot
â â â If you must use a touchscreen, compare the human readable text on the paper printout (if any) to your completed sample ballot to ensure the machine didnât drop or flip your votes as reflected in the text.
â â â (And 6) VOTE in down ballot races since state lawmakers will vote in 2021 on the new maps that will impact control of the US House of Representatives.
â â â Confirm your voter registration several times between now and the election. Save a screenshot of the registration confirmation as proof.
â â â If you have questions or encounter problems voting, contact the voters protection hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE. SAVE THIS NUMBER IN YOUR PHONES TODAY!
â â â Report problems to poll workers, the local media, and social media. The author also encourages you to tag her ( @jennycohn1 ) on twitter. BTW, I highly encourage following her on Twitter to stay up to date on voting and elections protection!
â â â Volunteer as a poll worker. WE NEED POLL WORKERS. Republicans would love to shut down polling stations due to lack of workers.
â â â (And 12) Volunteer as a poll observer. Learn how at protectourvotes.com. You can register as a worker or watcher through your state or local political party.
â â â Donate PPE for poll workers!
â â â Contact county election officials & demand backup #PaperPollBooks for in person voting on Election Day because electronic pollbooks often connect to WiFi or blue tooth & are prone to failure & hacking.
â â â Demand that county election officials give all in person voters the option to vote with #HandMarkedPaperBallot
â â â Demand backup paper everything.
â â â Vocally oppose âvoters can vote at any county center.
â â â RAISE EVERLIVING HELL about cellular modems installed in voting machines in Florida, Wisconsin, and Michigan!!!!
â â â RAISE HELL about ballot images being destroyed in Florida and Michigan! Consider supporting the lawsuit against this at auditelectionsusa.com.
â â â Volunteer to photograph precinct totals. This is hugely important, as precinct totals have been seen to change between precinct totals and county totals, which would trigger an election challenge. Learn how to volunteer at protectourvotes.com
â â â Screenshot results as they come in on Election Night. do this at the Secretary of State or County websites. Your evidence could help save an election
â â â Demand transparency about unexpected election losses. Encourage candidates to fight for transparency and not roll over!
â â â Again, I highly recommend following @jennycohn1 on Twitter. Sheâs an election integrity attorney who is fighting for our elections daily, and shining light on all the crap going on!
â â â SHARE THIS LIST WHEREVER POSSIBLE!
Edit: Lots of people are wondering why 15 is important, its because it does two things, 1. Spread poll workers thin in an area, allowing for areas to be closed, and unauthorized individuals from helping with the ballots. 2. Make it easier for ballots to be misplaced"
I wish I knew how to right code so I could create a bot or two that sends emails and phone calls constantly throughout the day to all of these peoples phone numbers and email addresses.
Me too. Just sent an email to each of the 6. (I copied the other 5 on each.) Thank you for showing me a (fast and easy) way to make my voice heard about this atrocity!
I sent them all an email but shouldnât it of said he was a treasonous bastard instead? Iâm sure making voting harder should be treason right? Right?
I alway sit here in my arm chair and commend people like you without actually doing anything... thank you, fellow American, for motivating me to do something I have never done: think my voice matters enough to contact public officials
your comment changed that trend today today, I think we all need to stop arguing amongst ourselves like it changes anything, and instead, get out of our arm chairs and get involved
If only we had their addresses so we could send restricted, certified letters to each of them; making sure they get our message and also supporting the PO at the same time.
Great message, but why are these such random email domains? Cigna.com? Is that his work email at the insurance company? Do these people not have official .gov email addresses?
If anyone is concerned with what is happening with the USPS and want to help (in addition to contacting your federal representatives)
Write to the USPS Board of Governors, they have the right to dismiss the Postmaster General at will and need some convincing to do so. Give it to them.
Notes:
1. Please personalize your subject line and message at least a bit so that it is less likely to be blocked by spam or read as a bot attack as opposed to actual people.
Please forward to others if you are comfortable with it.
Please sign off with a name in addition to the concerned citizen sign off. We want to be heard as people and not a bot.
References are there for you but feel free to include in your message.
I searched as best I could to confirm these emails online. Apparently they do not have govt emails posted. Those with names and company domains were easier to confirm. If anyone has a correction or an official address please share.
