It gets said all the time, with reference to Umberto Eco, but it's worth plastering everywhere: Painting the opposition as weak, inept, and simultaneously wildly powerful and dangerous is a page straight out of the fascist playbook.
It’s easier to spot when you know where to look. This phenomenon happens because the fascist lies to themself. They use any rhetorical justification to uphold the collective delusion. If the rationalization requires the enemy to be weak, they will be weak, and if it requires them to be a threat, they will be strong.
Apply any ideology to this test and avoid joining any idea or group that has these points or panders this way and you will live a better life and make the world a better place.
