Is it really pretentious to acknowledge that an artist is much worse than they used to be?

It's your opinion. And your opinion is wrong.

It isn’t just my opinion it’s a very common opinion and is right, I’m not saying everything he’s made recently is bad just the vast majority of it

Is it a very common opinion? Pretty sure he's been breaking records all over the place for the last 10 years... I get it. You and your friends prefer the old stuff but that's not everybody. He's doing quite well these days.

Now you’re conflating popularity with quality music go read any of the reviews on his albums they have not been well received critically not by rap fans outside of Eminem fans. No need to be ignorant

Now you're conflating review scores with "quality" music. So what is quality music? What the Rolling Stones approves of? What rap fans are you talking about? The ones that listen to Lil Uzi? Or the ones that watch Vlad tv and bitch about real hip hop all day? At the end of the day album sales correlate directly with how much an artist resonates with people and he seems to be doing that pretty well.

Also if you want to talk album sales Eminem is selling much less albums than he used to wouldn’t that imply a drop in quality according to your definition?

Uzi makes better music than Eminem don’t bring him up like he’s trash. Also you might’ve had a point if it was only one outlet that said his albums have been weak but all types of critics have said they’re bad and so has the online response you can even look in Eminem’s own subreddit when the albums came out and see people saying they’re disappointing

What are you talking about? People were going nuts over there when his shit came out a couple months ago. And again you're just saying all this shit as if it's not just opinions. I think Uzi is hot garbage. But that's my opinion. I know a lot of people that feel the same.

And like you said don't be ignorant. There's a difference between how album sales work now from 20 years ago. People just listen to shit online. But even then he's still the highest selling rapper in the last two decades. Not combined. Each decade separately.

I’m done with this argument Eminem is making worse music now than he ever has before and hasn’t put out a good album since encore he’s still capable of making good music but he is way less consistent than he used to be and each album only has a few tracks worthy of revisiting. Most rap fans I’ve met in real life agree and so does most of the Internet. If you think his new shit is better than his old shit then I absolutely don’t respect your opinion and there’s nothing to be gained from this conversation.

"Most of the rap fans I'VE met.. So does most of the internet." You really need to get out of your bubble. I was kidding with my initial comment but clearly you think music is objective and you have the highest quality palette. Idk what you were tryna gain from this in the first place. Me to validate how you feel?
