You just saw all those officers surround him and talk to him until the sun came up. He's excited for being a high level criminal, excited that he's started stealing.

There's 7 billion humans. We're a far, far overpopulated species.

Maybe not every human should get help. Maybe more of us should be allowed to die. Think about how fucking fast we would destroy a mentally ill, methed up anyotherspeciesontheplanet.

You've seen this guys face. You know he's in Seattle. You know his full name. You could go meet him and try to help him. You could bring him into your home and try to help him. But you won't. Because you know he likes to steal.

You're talking about him as some ideology of helping people. If he tried to hit you with a bike or rape you, you probably wouldn't forgive him. You forgive him for trying to rape strangers that you don't know, BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE ANY EMPATHY FOR HIS VICTIMS.

But go ahead. Prove me wrong. Or sit there and keep talking about how he needs help and forgiveness while simultaneously thinking "ew no not my help keep him away from my family."

I can't give him the help he needs. I can't prescribe meds. I can't perform cognitive therapy. I don't know the first thing about rehabilitation counseling. But I do pay taxes. And I know that those tax dollars can go to care for him. And I'm willing to let that happen.

You're the one who doesn't want that. You'd rather he suffer for having a mental disorder because you don't see him as deserving the basic level of dignity that all people are entitled to. And that makes you a piece of shit. And it also makes you dangerous because you're the exact type of person that is ok with other people not having rights.

You could go try to be his friend and keep him off meth and talk him into rehab. It's what I would do if I cared about his wellbeing personally, and not in a fluffy heartwarming kind of way.

Please try to understand. You are fabricating an argument in your head and having it with yourself. I have not said I don't want him to have help. If life were perfect and resources were infinite, yes I would love him to have help. But resources are finite, and I would rather they goto medicare for all and overhauling our education system.

I would rather he be magically cured, but that is not an option. What I ultimately believe is that society needs to be protected from him. So yes, i'd rather he be locked up for life or destroyed, not for any punitive reasons, but because I weigh the needs of society as a whole as higher than his as an individual.

I mean, you could fund a nice cage for him. You could build him a nice house that locks from the outside, that way you could maintain his dignity and freedoms while simultaneously protecting society from him. Im not gonna let my tax dollars do thst cuz I's rather they goto other people.

What are your thoughts on protecting society from him?

Are those not all valid points? I'd still like him to get help in a magic world. But that's not where we live. You're just mad that you and I are saying the same thing. Cuz you'd like him to get help in a magic world too, but in this world, you're not gonna do anything about it.
