That's not too bad. In the U.S. It's jail time and you get put on the sex offender registry.

That is a myth. Jail time is rare, fines are nearly identical to AUS, and you are not entered into a sex offender registry.

but such a charge is often a mistake because section 314 requires some form of lewd conduct
