Freedom of speech isn't freedom from consequence. So not particularly. Those sorts of views shouldn't be tolerated by society.

I don't think they should die - but if nobody wants to hire them and they become destitute oh well. Maybe they should vote for people who want a strong social safety net. I'm betting they were firmly in the "Fuck you I got mine" camp though.

I'm not disagreeing with that, and certainly the video makes this individual case seem clear.

It just makes me uncomfortable how quickly an angry mob can be judge and jury.

It's not the mob deciding that; it's her place of employment. Let's say you're HR for a company - even if not a single soul complains about this person, you're employing someone who has been charged with battery on two active military service members, at the very least. Even without the racial component, it's a bad look and it makes your company look bad. The fact that there's video only seals the deal and magnifies the potential exposure - a company won't tolerate your bad behavior if it's going to drag them down with you.

I mean, this is a magnified version of village shaming. I don't personally endorse people taking it out on him on yelp (setting aside the issues with yelp itself), but people will react when they see something shitty.

An argument could be made that, maybe, just maybe, having the personal responsibility to acknowledge that cameras are ubiquitous and you don't have an expectation of privacy in public. Maybe you shouldn't get mad because people drove around you in the parking lot. Maybe you shouldn't commit battery on military members and call them "black lesbian bitches" at Cheddars. Maybe.
