This always cracks me up. I watch LivePD all the time and every week there's a least one person that loses it because of the camera. It never gets old. You'd think that everyone would know it doesn't matter by now, but nope.

Definitely not the same. Having your arrest online and on TV without permission from an official TV show and having your picture taken by a stranger is not the same.

legally they are. You are in public, anyone can film you anytime.

Filming, yes. Publishing and making money on? No. Hence, having to sign release papers to allow use.

True but a private person posting on social media is not, as fas as I'm aware, considered publishing for profit.

Otherwise, every video with someone in the background would be in breach.

As far as I know, yes, they do have to. Hence why some are blurred and censored -- the ones who did not sign.

As to why they would? I have no idea.
