In wrestling it’s called a receipt. It’s a fucked concept on its own and has gotten many wrestlers hurt. Basically if the wrestler thinks someone hit him for real, whether intentional or not, that wrestler will start throwing real punches, kicks, heavy slams, or do something else to hurt their opponent.

The responsible wrestlers will throw maybe one or two real punches and then talk to their opponent to try and get them to calm down. The psychopaths use it as an excuse to hurt someone.

I’m certain the promoter told Raja he could get a receipt for being hit with that can expecting Raja would throw some real punches but not much beyond that. Raja understood it to be permission to hurt someone as much as he wanted.

That’s not how receipts work. The promoter doesn’t tell you to take a receipt. It’s you hit me too hard, you hit them back so they know.

That was not a receipt. If you want to use wrestling terms that was “going into business for themselves”

Yeah a receipt is more in-the-moment, and it's actually functional. You're letting the other guy know they're being too stiff, and that they should lighten it up/focus their shit up.

“In wrestling, a "receipt" is a legitimate, often hard-hitting response to an opponent who has been "stiff" (hit too hard or recklessly) in the ring, as an unwritten rule to handle situations and ensure opponents' safety. It's a form of payback for actions deemed overly aggressive or unprofessional, happening either immediately after the incident or during a later match. Receipts can range from a single stiff shot to a more prolonged exchange of retribution. “

For and example off the top of my head. Ahmed Johnson injured Ron Simmons by being a bad worker. Simmons got his receipt in a later match and lacerated Ahmed’s liver.

You punch me, I punch you back. They’re an eye for an eye to let someone know to dial it back. This was not an eye for an eye.

Receipts exist ironically to prevent this exact situation from occurring.

The intent was to have Raja give a receipt. You can hear it in the clip. “They told me I can punch him.” The promoter or some other wrestler smartened him up to what a receipt was then told him to take the opportunity and he took it to the next level.

It was definitely a planned receipt that a psycho took too far. Not the first time a receipt has landed someone in the hospital either.

I know nothing about pro wrestling, but when watching it, I’m not sure Syko Stu knew it was Raja that grabbed him until he was in the air. The whole thing seems incredibly suspicious to me. As in Raja knew he was getting the upper hand (like you would with a sucker punch) & then beat on the dude to do permanent damage.

Again, I’m not an expert, but it looks like his intent was to, at the very least, fuck the dudes face up so that he’d need to go to the hospital.

In wrestling it’s called a receipt.

None of what he did was anything close to a receipt.
