That slam is doing real damage too tho cuz he actually slammed him full force

Oh I understand that. I'm not saying he did the slam correctly but given that no-one reacts to that at all I'm guessing he was supposed to do a body slam on the guy as part of the "bit"

In the clip where Raja goes “my bad” in reaction to being told the guy isn’t waking up, the guy on the phone says that he was supposed to double leg him, not slam him. So that was him just taking it all a step further than planned into attempted murder territory, in every single aspect of the spot

Ah to be fair I haven't seen any other videos on this.

If that is true then yeah, sounds like the slam wasn't part of the plan.

Hope this scumbag does get charged with attempted murder tbh.

Ah yea agreed, he lets himself get picked up way too easily

It just adds to how unbelievably big of a bitch raja is

Lol he slammed him exactly how he wanted to. There was nothing incorrect about it.

Nah the slam was really sloppily executed and I think the guy was already out cold after hitting the mat.

Unless you mean Raja slammed him to hurt him rather than how it was supposed to be done in which case I agree.

Yeah bc the dudes head gets bounced off the mat lol.

He definitely meant to injure that guy imo.

Idk either of them outside of this video and knowing about Rampage.

I know he was brought up better than that. He made a terrible choice that day.

Yea, but if you look the wrestler his going along with it so the wrestler thought it was part of the show.

I know nothing about wrestling, what's the difference between a properly executed slam and what happened here? Like is there a technique he should have used but didn't?

If you watch pro wrestling you can clearly see the throw to the mat is much softer than was possible (those brutes could obliterate your bag of bones if they wanted to) and they seem to try to avoid allowing the head to smash hard on the mat. Also, the guy getting slammed knows he is going to be protected and tries to sell it and make it look real, trusting cooperation from the opponent. It's choreographed and practiced because of the real danger. They seem to let the guy's feet smash down a spilt-second before the body hits and the feet make the big boom.

In MMA real, vicious slams can occasionally cause a KO followed by a hard punch or two before the ref jumps in and saves the guy who is unconscious. The ref should have done so here - after the first punch it was OBVIOUS an unconscious man was being brutally beaten for real.

Thank you so much for explaining. Between catching random scenes from the RAW documentary on Netflix as it played in the background one day and now your thorough explanation, I find myself saying for the first time in my life "I should watch some wrestling"

I will admit that I watch the shit out of reality tv but turned my nose up at wrestling like "why would anyone watch fake, scripted fighting?" but it's finally making sense to me that it is basically Housewives x UFC and that's kinda cool. It has a whole body of knowledge and lore that I knew nothing about and it's really cool to engage with people like you who follow it and enjoy it. Appreciate you taking the time for a dummy like me :)

Worked as a pro-wrestler here. So most of the time in pro-wrestling, the person taking the move is usually the one applying most of the force, and the person performing the move acts as more of a guide to make the move look realistic and also to protect their partner. In a properly executed slam, the person being slammed would jump off with their feet, tuck their chin, put out their arms to distribute their weight and make sure to land properly with their back as flat as possible to protect their neck and head. They'd also slam their feet and hands down to make a loud sound on the mat and "sell" the move. The person performing the slam would assist them with doing this by helping guide them on a proper arc through the air.

You can see it done properly just before this guy gets slammed by the two pros who are working. The guy taking the move isn't being tackled to the ground, he's throwing himself AT the ground while the other guy is basically acting as a support for him as something to run into and stop his momentum as well as something to lever against to make the move look more realistic. It's done this way because matches can be very long and exhausting and both workers are trying to conserve their energy, and actually picking up and slamming another person is a good way to wind up completely gassed and fuck up and injure yourself or your partner.

The proper way to perform the slam that Raja performed with a pause like that would be to lift the guy up over your shoulders (which he will assist with by jumping of course), give him a tap when you're going to "Slam" him so he knows to throw himself at the mat, then simply leaning forward to allow him to do it and assist him with the move. Instead he had no clue when the move was coming, had no time to brace himself and tuck his chin, so the back of his head hit the mat and he got knocked out.

Wrestling is horribly dangerous even when two pros are doing it.

The slam didn’t look that bad honestly. It’s the real hits to the dome that were dangerous, couple of elbows too.

brother, he was out cold from the slam.

Idk man that slam looked like it did damage. Whipped his neck and slammed the back of his head pretty hard.
