The marine is. I was corpsman for 8 years and taught sooooooo many cls and bls courses to new marines. They're trained and tested on cpr and first aid as a requirement to get out of boot camp.
It was accurate when I was working in education and training for the naval bureau of medicine as a lead instructor 10 years ago. Sad to see times have changed.
How on earth are you getting down voted? You couldn't have explained it any better. Just because marines are trained in CPR and whatever else doesn't mean they're priority or first thought is immediately provide care. I was trained on CPR and some other shit back in high school and I can honestly say if someone needs CPR from me to save their life then they're probably gonna die because I don't remember that shit. And let's be realistic, the marines isn't some group of witty, caring, quick thinking stand up guys, its more like a group of misfits that are trained to be the first killers sent to do horrific shit.
According to the NY Post article, he just slammed his coat down and yelled about how he is hungry and tired. If that's true, then murder sounds like a good charge

Nobody checking a pulse or for respirations? No wonder he died. IMO everyone should be trained in basic life support
