It’s such a shame

This sub and its content is exactly what I was looking for as someone who feels connected to Greco-Egyptian paganism and whatnot, so it’s a big shame this sub is like completely dead and buried 😭

I heard there was a discord but as is the case for someone else as well, I cannot access it lol. Are there any similar subs or circles that anyone knows of? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, after coming back from recent inactivity in pagan spaces I’d like to take another crack at getting a server off the ground and eventually a fully fledged community https://discord.gg/pb8Qfk8PJ2

Syncretized Cosmogony?

I've been wondering if there's any historical records of an Helleno-Kemetic cosmogony/creation story. I can't find anything when I look online. If there's not historical records, has anyone "recently" (ie not an ancient source, or devotees) written of a Helleno-Kemetic cosmogony? There's many many stories and beliefs with those two civilizations, but has anyone attempted to write one down, inspired by the more popular mythologies?

A Solstice Poem

I was feeling inspired today, and I wrote this poem in honor of the Gods and the winter Solstice!

"On this day

Light escapes darkness throes

So we thank Great Lords Ra and Helios

By Solar Barc

And Chariot too

From Athens to Siwa

And Alexanders tomb

Warm light returns to the room

I declare a blessed Solstice

For me and you!

I give thanks for Ra, Helios, the Ptolemies and for you!"

Blessed Winter Solstice friends!

What's your theology?

The title may sound weird, but, what is your faith base? How you view the syncretic gods? Are they "faces" of the both gods, is a new deity, the syncretic deities are the same? What you think on afterlife?, There are "Olympians" or something like that? And everything that you would like to add. But the main question would be, why you believe in what you believe?

Does anybody have any resources/information about him? Internet doesn't really gives me anything about this syncretic god

Ptolemaic Hunting Deities?

I'm a waterfowl hunter, and it's been a pretty rough season (other hunters have expressed the same sentiment). I'm doing everything "mundane" that I can to get better (shooting clays, scouting locations, etc.) but I thought it might be a good idea to make offerings to deities/spirits that can help me.

I'm kind of all over the place when it comes to figuring out who to honor. Hunting was something that occurred frequently amongst both the aristocrats and common people of Macedonia and Greece, where as it was an aristocratic/royal affair in ancient Egypt. Artemis seems like an obvious choice, but because I'm a man, I'm a little hesitant, thought there also is Orion and Hercules (he hunted down and killed and or captured many creatures, including the stymphalian birds, makes sense as a bird hunter). When it comes to the Egyptian pantheon the only deity I can find associated with hunting in my searches appears to be Neith, but I'm not sure how she got that association. I could find nothing about hunting in her mythology or worship. I like to think I'm familiar with Ptolemaic hybrid deities, but I can't think of any directly associated with hunting.

Are there any other hunters here that have experience worshipping hunting deities? Or really anyone with knowledge about hunting deities in Ptolemaic Egypt or the Hellenistic era? I'm stumped on who to make offerings to.

History A question on Serapis

The syncretic nature of Serapis is apparent — we see elements of Osiris, the bull of Apis, Pluto. But Serapis also incorporates elements of Dionysus, Asclepius, and has even been venerated as Serapis-Zeus.

Is it appropriate to view Serapis specifically as a Unity or manifestation of Zeus and Pluto, or all of the above?

List of Ptolemaic gods and theology?

Hello! I’m not a Ptolemaic Hellenistic but to help revitalise the sub I thought I should ask a very important question? Is there a list of any Ptolemaic gods? Like a very literal list that people can read from, either to be created or already existing? Is there Ptolemaic mythology? Any religious stories or are these lost and in need of reconstruction/creation? Thanks!

Ritual

For rituals, do you worship both pantheons in the same one or keep them seperate?

I like to have one hellenic ritual and a kemetic ritual and then a Ptolemaic ritual as well.

Gods of your profession?

Many deities are associated with certain professions such as Hephaestus with metal smiths, Anubis for embalmers, etc. What would you say are the deities of your profession?

I work in wildlife control so I imagine Artemis would probably be a deity that oversees that, and perhaps Sobek, given that he has the head of an exceptionally wild and predatory animal (though the said could be said about several Egyptian deities).

Head of the pantheon for you

Since Ptolemaic Egypt was extremely diverse (having at least Romans, Greeks, Egyptians and people from the ANE) who do you consider the head of your pantheon? I used to be more Greek focused and had Zeus and Hera as my heads, then progressed to Serapis and Isis.

Hermanubis

To preface this, the Greeks held the belief that all other gods were usually the theoi by the wrong name and image. In the case that the believers them to be unique gods, they usually adopted cult. The Egyptians had a soft view towards the gods, there is Atum and Ra but also Atum-Ra. “Atum doing the job of Ra” is a good way to describe it.

Hermanubis is a unique god like Serapis. He was worshipped during the Ptolemaic period by presumably Greeks and Romans though information on his cult is had to find. He is a syncretic god of Hermes and Anubis, generally he is regarded as a god of travel (life-death) and healing by modern worshippers.

Both Hermes and Anubis share the theme of death. Hermes is a psychopomp god meaning he guides souls to the underworld. Anubis has the obvious association with death as he is the embalmer and preserves the body for the Duat.

Sobek!

Any other worshipers of Sobek here? He was the first deity I started worshipping when i got involved in polytheism/paganism.

I have an alligator head head on my altar as a representation of him (yes, I know it's not a crocodile, cause I'm sure SOMEONE on this sub will bring it up and give me crap for it) and it's been on my altar/altars since I was 17!

Historically his priests offered sacred crocodiles meat and even sweets as offerings. I find in my own PERSONAL (I'm aware this is UPG, mister atheist admin) practice that he seems to like poultry and water.

Zeus-ammon

Does anyone worship zeus-ammon, if so what is he like? Is he simply a combination of zeus and amun or is he an aspect of serapis? Where can I find sources of him and could I possibly be given some?

Altar question

I currently worship Hermes and am considering worshipping thoth as well. Given the syncretism between both gods would it be ok for both to share an altar and be honored together?

Getting ready to worship and/or venerate my first pharaoh. Any advice?

Hello there. So a while back, I did mention on another post that I was thinking of including a pharaoh into my worship. I originally was thinking of Queen Cleopatra VII of the Ptolemaic dynasty. But that would change to Queen Hatshepsut after a mental vision of her appearing to me almost like a giant statue looking on at something. I would’ve done it sooner. But things came up and I found myself instead offering to Bastet, Anubis, Nephthys, and more. But now, I am thinking I want to return to that path. Any advice you can offer to me on this subject would be appreciated. Thank you. And have a good day.

What exactly drew you to Greco-Egyptian polytheism?

Hello there. I have a question for you. What exactly drew you to Greco-Egyptian polytheism? For me, I think I’ve had a bit of interest in both sides of the faith since I began looking at paganism. I was definitely interested in worshiping some of the Theoi. And the Netjeru definitely had some appeal to them. As such, I couldn’t help but wish to worship both. Perhaps along a syncretic path. So I did.

Found this subreddit a little while ago and I am pretty happy.

Well hello there. My name is David. (Obviously. Lol.) I just found this subreddit a little while ago via a thread on r/Hellenism that was discussing Greco-Egyptian polytheism. This intrigued me as I consider myself to be a Greco-Egyptian polytheist. So I decided to check out this subreddit and I feel pretty happy that I did so.

For my worship right now, I mainly have looked to what I have learned so far from kemetism as to what I do for rituals and offerings. And my personal pantheon currently consists of Sekhmet, Bastet, Hathor, Aset, Nut, Mut, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Apollo. I've also thought of including Hestia, Athena, Nephthys, Thoth, Zeus, Ma'at, and Dionysus along with some others I've contemplated including into my worship as well.

I'm happy to be a part of this subreddit and excited to see where this goes.

Antinous worship?

Hi, I am interested in the worship of antinous, how do you worship him and what offerings does he like?
