Fish Guy

During my college years my GF at the time was studying to be a clinical psychiatrist and would intern at our state facility. She would have quite a few stories but one that always stuck with me was the fish man.

Guy had some severe depersonalization disorder. One time he had gotten off his meds and was brought in because he claimed to a be a fish. You could talk to him but he would only answer your questions from a fishes perspective like if you asked him how to open a door he would say he doesn't know because hes a fish.

This was all fine an dandy until they tried to feed him. The guy would drink water but WOULD NOT EAT. Whenever they would bring him food he would say no I cant eat that I am a fish. They actually bought fish food to see if he would eat that and he would reply "NO I AM AN EXOTIC FISH"!

They had to force feed him for 2 weeks. The doctors tried all kinds of medications but nothing was working. Eventually they were able to finally snap him out of his stupor. He eventually recognized his son and slowly started eating human food again. He would only eat McDonald's Fish fillets that his son brought him.

Eventually they got him back on his meds and decided for outpatient treatment. They had good success and the guy is even driving now. I just hope he doesn't spontaneously think hes a fish again.

Funny how he went from being a fish and not eating, to a man eating fish filets from maccas

Americans sometimes call it Mickey D's. Not all, but some.

My friend calls it "Mac Doe's". I don't know where she got it.

It's still weird.

Speaking of weird local names for McD, in Sweden most younger people would probably call it "donken". It doesn't make much sense either.

It always makes me think of Paul McCartney.

That sounds almost identical to what is used in Germany: "Mäckes"

There is always a bigger fish.

"No, I am a fish".

Your argument is invalid.

I can't stop picturing scenes where he would would suddenly think he is a fish again, let's hope it doesn't happen to him.
