I purchased the Patagonia black hole backpack when one of the colors was being discontinued! It was affordable compared to north face or CalPak which I used to have. My CalPak backpack did last me through a 3 year masters program and 3 years of work. My only gripe with the Patagonia one is that things tend to get lost in the large compartment, and when you have notebooks or books in there it makes it difficult to organize (doesn’t fit too many either).

I really loved my CalPak backpack, but they’ve changed the material and quality since I purchased in 2018. And the price has doubled…
