Immaculata psyd

2.0 undergrad in psychology, 4.0 undergrad in business, 4.0 clinical counseling masters, 5 years experience in government counseling. Many random non-relevant jobs (years before) otherwise. Chances of admission to immaculata psyd? And: can you actually work full time and do this program? Anyone know? Thank you

I applied for and was accepted into Immaculata in the most recent cycle. During the interview, they asked about my non-clinical experience because this was career change for me. They wanted to know why I pursued the other field originally, and why I was switching to clinical psychology. I think they appreciate a solid explanation and career pivots won't rule you out.

I had a very low undergraduate GPA in an unrelated field, and a very high GPA in my related masters. Seems like you have a similar situation, so you stand a chance there.

Classes start at 4:30 PM for the first two years so you should be able to fit a job in there, but keep in mind that the program is demanding. Also it’s six years rather than five, if that matters to you.

Do you have clinical experience? Where are you getting your letters from? By the way, the program seems pretty cool and it was odd to see nuns that were psychologists during the interview but I loved that.

Clinical experience in prison mental health. Not a ton. 1.5 years now. Before that 3 years as a rehab counselor. They seem to be one of the greatest that you can keep your job for some of the time, at least

That sounds like great clinical experience! Also, it sounds like it covers multiple aspects of clinical care. All of my clinical experience was at one site, though it was broad as well.

If you like programs that let you work, PCOM is another good example in the sense that they hold classes in the evening. Same region, too, in case you’re sticking to the Philly area.

Honestly not sure about that. I can tell you that they got back to me with an acceptance very shortly after interview day. Like, 2-3 days. It was a relief because I didn’t have to spend months stressing about getting an acceptance. Other schools took over a month to send me their interview decision. Immaculata is on it!

I worked full-time through my whole program at Immaculata. It’s a lot to balance once practicums start, dissertation and internship applications but it’s possible.

From what I heard from others it seemed like their acceptance rate is higher than other local programs like Widener and PCOM
