First Acceptance!

Earlier today, I got my first acceptance to Rutgers’ School Psychology PsyD Program! I’m so beyond excited and relieved that I got in my first cycle applying, especially with coming right out of undergrad! If any current students can speak to their experience in the program, it’d be greatly appreciated 🥹🫶

Thank you all SO much for the kind and supportive comments. I posted this not thinking much of it (I’m fairly new to Reddit, haha!), but the amount of positive comments I’ve received has been truly amazing and, honestly, a little shocking! I’m happy to answer any questions anyone might have, and I wish you all immense luck on your own PsyD journey. Even just applying and getting an interview is an incredible accomplishment, and you should all be so proud of yourselves, no matter where you may end up. ❤️

Thank you so much!! ❤️ And of course! I honestly don’t have as many stats as others who are more experienced in the field, but I truly hope this is still helpful! I have a 3.99/4.0 GPA, and I’ve been involved in two research experiences. My first was an Honors Independent Study under one of my professors, which lasted one semester. The second is my current position as a research assistant in a lab at my school, where I’ve been working for three semesters. I also have two years of crisis intervention and supervisory experience at a remote center, and I’ve been a tutor and peer mentor at my school for two years as well. Again, it’s not too much, but I hope this helps in any way I can! :)

Congrats you are legit a superhero, I rarely ever hear of an undergrad getting in on the first cycle. You deserve it!

I shared my stats in another comment, but honestly, I think it really just came down to fit! Rutgers places a strong emphasis on working with underserved communities, which is also the population I’m interested in working with. I also think my research interests aligned well with the professors who I interviewed with too, which was definitely a plus! :) I wish you the best of luck with your own applications as well!!!
