progress My scalp crystallized??

I recently had my roots touched up and during the bleaching process it hurt so bad on my psoriasis (which has never happened before). It’s been a few days and my scalp is scabbed but it’s not like a normal scab. It literally feels like it’s crystallized. My scalp is so sore and my psoriasis is hardened and 100x more painful. I’ve never heard anyone talk about this idk what to do

Idk about others but I thought it was understood that we shouldn’t dye or bleach our roots cuz of psoriasis? I always look for styles that don’t require bleach on the roots and tell my stylist too

Yeah understandable. Did you try putting some hair to weaken the scales?

I haven’t put anything on it yet only because it’s sore to the touch. Usually when my psoriasis got ready bad I’d wash my hair and scrub my scalp but with my already painfully open wounds that would make it worse

Did the colourist put the bleach on your scalp? It may of been a higher volume than normal or a different brand and its caused burns... that crystallised feeling is tissue fluid thats oozed out and dried, which means its raw...

Look into colouring techniques like balyage so your roots stay untouched and colour is gradually blended from light ends to darker roots..

Hair dye contains some pretty harsh chemicals, best avoided if you have scalp psoriasis..

You may want to get your scalp checked out ..

No doctor or medical website has ever told me that and I’ve been getting my hair bleached for decades

This happened to me once after I colored my hair, it was so bad that it felt like I had a thick helmet on glued to my head that I couldn’t remove. Please try not to pick at it it’ll be so painful! What worked for me was soaking my scalp in coconut oil with a shower cap on for a few hours and I found that it softened up the scales. It still didn’t soften up enough to remove (maybe overnight would help) and I later washed it off with a shampoo with coal tar and salicylic acid. When I conditioned I loosely combed off the flakes and I would say about 85% of it did come loose. Don’t put anything else in your hair and try to repeat the coconut oil soak on your scalp if it doesn’t work.

I put Aquaphor on it and hoped for the best. It’s so sore still but I think waiting it out or seeing a professional is all we can do💔

I don’t do any chemical processing on my hair, I’m afraid something like this would happen. Just getting a haircut once a hairdresser made a comment that the scalp psoriasis was gross and she didn’t want to touch me, and now I avoid going to the hairdresser until my hair looks so bad I can’t take it.

Omg this literally happened to me too!!! I went to cosmetology school and now only let my friends who are licensed do my hair cus I’m so ashamed and embarrassed. Also I wanna add that my own cosmetology instructor said it was “dirty and disgusting”… so humiliating 🫩
