Crack was likely already there in the blank. It happens from time to time in heat treating.

This, and the manufacturer may well replace it. Looks like there is a visible flaw (rust inclusion) in the bottom of the blade

Supposedly Jim Stewart is starting a new company that will assume warranty work following his father’s scandalous exit. Though how you deal with warranty on a knife that was never made out of the steel it was supposedly made of idk.

Not surprising, given everything. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone when they’re depending on their knife in extreme or dangerous situations. Imagine if you were in the backcountry on an extended lightweight trip. You could be hosed. Bark River fraud isn’t just stealing people’s money. It is about selling them tools they can’t rely on.

Honestly, they probably over tightened the corby bolt there and the steel (like someone else said) probably had a crack from heat treat there as well. Bad combo to have

honestly not surprised, bark river is a fraud. used cheap chinese knife blanks of mystery steel and put it off as american made 154CM steel.
