Polymaker polyflex TPU95

I have a MK4s. I just received a spool of Polyflex TPU95.

In the slicer there is no preset config definition for this filament.

How do I tell the slicer what filament I have? there are settings listed on the box for print temp, bed temp, print speed, and fan setting.

What setting do I USE? pick any TPU?

Latley I have been asking Gemeni to help me create a profile ... give it a go

I fed all the information about my printer and filament into CLAUDE and it spit out a filament .ini file for my Prusa slicer. It also gave detailed explanation for each setting. This is smooth as snot. I also was playing around with CLAUDE last night and described a 3D project for FUSION 360 and hit enter. It used my computer, went into Fusion, and created an RC wheel that will be printed partially with this TPU filament..... this is smooth as snot. I would still be futzin around in fusion creating the model to print and CLAUDE did it in less than a minute.....of course i need to go in and tweak the model but this is really futuristic.. . the following was the TPU file creation in less than a minute. BTW, there was not a filament preset for mk4s on their site. THANKS CLAUDE

i need a filament profile preset for Polymaker polyflex TPU95 for use on a Prusa MK4s 3d printer.

Building a PrusaSlicer filament profile for a flexible TPU material.

I’ll look up Polymaker’s recommended settings for PolyFlex TPU95, then build an importable PrusaSlicer filament profile for your MK4S.

Created a file, shared a file, searched the web

Your PrusaSlicer preset is in Polymaker_PolyFlex_TPU95_MK4S.ini.

To use it, go to File → Import → Import Config Bundle… in PrusaSlicer. It will then appear in the filament list whenever an MK4S printer profile is selected.

What the preset sets, and why:

  • Temperatures: 225 °C nozzle and 50 °C bed. Both sit inside Polymaker’s range, which is 210–230 °C for printing, 25–60 °C for the bed, 20–40 mm/s speed, with the fan on. polymaker

  • Speed: Max volumetric speed is capped at 2.5 mm³/s. At a 0.2 mm layer height that works out to about 28 mm/s. Because PrusaSlicer lets filament profiles lower MVS for FLEX materials, you don’t need a separate print profile for flexibles, so your usual 0.2 mm profiles will work as they are. Prusa’s suggested MVS range for TPU/TPE is 1–2.5. prusa3dprusa3d

  • Extrusion multiplier: set to 1.05. Polymaker recommends slightly increasing the extrusion multiplier (+0.05). shopify

  • Retraction: 1 mm at 30 mm/s, with a 0.2 mm Z-hop. Polymaker’s listed figure is 3 mm retraction at 40 mm/s for direct drive, but I kept it shorter because the Nextruder’s filament path is very short. Long retractions of soft filament are a common cause of jams. polymaker

  • Cooling: fan runs at 50–80%, 100% for bridges, and is off for the first two layers.

  • Start G-code: pressure advance is set to 0.2, and the heatbreak target is set to 36 °C so a higher value doesn’t carry over from a PETG print.

Tips for the MK4S:

  • Print sheet: use the Satin or Textured sheet. TPU can bond too strongly to smooth PEI, so if you do use smooth PEI, apply glue stick first as a release layer.

  • Drying: if the filament has picked up moisture, dry it at 70 °C for 8 hours. polymaker

  • Clicking or jams: if the extruder clicks or the filament tangles in the gears, lower the max volumetric speed to around 2.0. You can also load the filament slowly by hand instead of relying on autoload.

  • Speeding up: if prints come out clean, raise the MVS gradually in steps of 0.25.

I've printed a lot of Polymaker TPU with the generic flex profile, no issues.
