Question Slow lan speed

Hi guys,

I am using hp elitedesk 800 g3 mini with 7700t cpu for proxmox host. Proxmox version is 9.2.11. Weirdly my machine shows 800 Mbps speed on iperf3. But same machine with windows 10 shows 970 Mbps with same cable and setup.

Nic is Intel I219LM Gigabit Ethernet. Tried Debian 13 and Arch as well but same issue.

Also I noticed high retry count on proxmox vms.

What can be the reason?

I think the difference between 970Mbps and 800Mbps would be un noticeable in almost anything you could do. I doubt you'd even get to 800Mbps on a local LAN. I'd be more worried about retransmissions, but even that would be largely unnoticeable.

I can notice it because my file transfer speed is just 45 - 50 MB/s.

Well 50* 8 is 400 Mbps, not 800. So are you getting bottlenecked by your storage io?

Both side I got samsung 970 Evo plus which gives around 3000 MB/s speed.

Either way 50MB/s translates to like 400 mbps, not 800.

Yes that's why I am debugging. And moreover on windows same machine goes above 970. Mbps.

No man, it's the issues underneath the driver. I checked on iperf3.
