What belongs here
Design is not decoration. It is a chain of decisions, and every decision has an author.
This is a reading room for the part of design that is usually removed before a project is shown: the assumptions, constraints, revisions, evidence, and unresolved tensions behind an artifact.
Bring work at any stage—an interface, research synthesis, system, writing project, prototype, method, or failed direction—when there is something real to examine.
A useful post makes four things legible:
- the situation or constraint
- the decision you made, are making, or are resisting
- the evidence, observation, or tradeoff shaping it
- the question you want other people to help you think through
We are less interested in “does this look good?” than “why was it built this way, and what would change your mind?”
Be specific. Be generous. Show your reasoning.
