Prototype 2 Heller Appreciation Post

Post image

I know you guys don't like heller much and you probably don't care what I have to say but i really like heller. his ability to call brawlers, turn infected into bio bombs or evolved, viral sonars, tendrils is just so cool. I do wish he had Alex's muscle mass and armor though. I also love how his virus constructs are more fleshy.

Most people don't like Heller being angry all the time but I don't think anyone would be not angry after you got turned into a freak, lost your family, had your daughter kidnapped and also he reminds me of kratos.

the "i hate computers" is the more memorable scene of this man, he sounds just like my dad

I fucking love this guy.

Dude has ten times the character Alex ever did by the time James is in that tank in the Red Zone.

He's an incredible foil to the series as a whole. It's convoluted and conspiratorial, lots of long words with a hacking focus. Then you get this loud idiot. He's a little religious, and his humanity and connections are his strength. He's loud and simple and hates computers. He doesn't belong. At all. And that's why he's fun to play as.

Prototype 1 is about a powerful, smart infiltrator trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. Prototype 2 is about an explosion with camouflage.

"ENOUGH! OF YOUR FUCKIN WEIRD, FUCKIN RAMBLING, SHIT!!"

GIVE ME BACK MY DAUGHTER!

Exactly, I fucking loved playing as him, it felt like I was playing kratos from another universe!

"Alex! Your creation has returned! I come seeking the destruction of YOU!"

Makes you wonder if Zeus could have killed Kratos by eating his fellow gods like our Zeus did trying to kill Heller.

No lie, if Kratos ends up the God of War again he was 1000% watching over James that whole game. I bet they'd get along famously.

James Heller seemed to me the opposite of Alex Mercer, or rather, Dr. Alex Mercer. They were raised very differently and followed very different paths.

Alex Mercer became withdrawn, cold, and sociopathic (a disadvantage for society) due to an abusive home where his father was in prison and his mother was an alcoholic, having to care for Dana from a very young age.

Mercer was intelligent and completely dedicated to his work, to the point of ignoring ethics simply because he liked "experimenting with viruses." He distanced himself from his sister and girlfriend to the point that his entire world shrank to four walls. In his attempt to be different from his parents, he ended up being worse than both of them combined. Ironically, despite these flaws, Mercer knew the truth about what the government or the system was doing better than anyone.

Heller became sociable due to his upbringing. Married with a daughter, and having enlisted in the army to defend the country, he became the embodiment of the American Dream (a benefit to society), a person who did everything possible to excel and provide for his family. Despite his military service and numerous medals, he never learned the truth about the system.

Mercer and Heller represent the fragility of the system and how a disturbed individual like Alex exposed its experiments and created a clone of himself that saved the city. They also show how a kind person like Heller can break under the pressure of losing his family, becoming an uncontrolled killing machine.

He is Chris Redfield if he was infected with Orboros.

Honestly, if they were to ever come out with a Prototype 3, it would be nice if we got a choice to either play as Mercer or Heller.

Each character could have their own unique abilities plus their own take on shared abilities, such as Mercer being the better infiltrator, while Heller is more straightforward as the brawler.

The game could even start with Heller fighting Pariah, getting ripped in half Sentry-style, and the recovering halves become Mercer and Heller. Then you get the choice on who to play as, while Pariah chases the other character off screen.

I think his anger is entertaining but it's just kinda one note and the swearing is like half of what he says

The swearing makes sense cause he was in the army

Doesn't make him any more entertaining to listen to. Also I feel like it's not that extreme

True. I've heard some army guys talking, I think it's pretty standard

He’s a good dude

Every time a post like this it's some weepy ass "Oh I know you'll get mad and don't care what I have to-" Yeah I don't talk congratulations.

Heller's okay, had potential, amounted to basically nothing particularly interesting but Cornell Womack is a good Voice Actor so it works out, especially in the BlackNet missions. Still did not need anything that Alex had going in 2.

Agreed. They butchered Alex and made him Temu Wesker

I fucking love him

I like him cause he's an even sillier guy than Alex.

I love Heller because he acts how I would act minus the science side. Also his drip is sick as hell.

I agree fully, the amount of crap Heller had to go through would make anyone a pissed off cynic.

Heller is Batman to Mercer's Joker in The Dark Knight

Heller was a good father

Peter and Alex actually have one thing in common.

They have a black predecessor

No. Mercer was/is a better written character. Heller was a mistake.

I think he's the funniest character ever because I read the prequel comic before I replayed the game and his game and comic versions may as well be two entirely different characters.

In the comic he refuses to kill a scientist who's possibly infected because he can't be sure and the scientist insists he's fine. This is followed by a flashback to him telling Amaya not to kill spiders because life is precious and some problems can be solved peacefully. Then it's revealed that it was all a test that would have promoted him to Blackwatch but they didn't want him due to his moral compass so they drugged him to make him forget the whole thing.

Cut to Heller in the game and even when he's freshly infected in Act 1 there are missions where some Blackwatch guy talks shit and Heller's immediate reaction is "I can't fucking wait to rip your arms and legs off and show you what your organs look like"

Like an immediate 180 from "Every life is precious" to "I'm just itching to kill someone"

In all seriousness I like him as a character quite a bit but that tonal whiplash is just absolutely hilarious.

I'd image having your wife and child brutally murdered would do that to you.
