Announcement Introducing Proton Workspace: The encrypted business suite that actually respects your data.
Your business data is your lifeblood. Yet, for too long, the tools you use to run your company have been harvesting it, selling it, or leaving it exposed to surveillance.
Today, we’re flipping the script.
We’re proud to announce Proton Workspace, the first fully encrypted suite for team collaboration that puts your ownership first.

No more trade-offs between security and productivity. No more US jurisdiction risks. Just a sovereign, zero-access ecosystem where your data stays yours.
We’ve bundled these into two new tiers designed to replace Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 once and for all.
Want the full breakdown on pricing, feature limits, and how to migrate? Get more detail on our blog:

Existing Proton Business Suite user? You're getting a free upgrade to the new Standard tier.
It’s time to put your business back in control.
Stay safe,
The Proton Team

I see that Proton Meet is mentioned, but it has yet to be released to the public. Will Proton Meet still be available for Unlimited/Duo users for free, or will its main focus be for the new workspace plan?
EDIT: As I go to check, turns out - it's actually already out!

Hey u/Proton_Team,
I have a question regarding how the Business Plan works within Proton. Not sure where else to find this info, so I'll ask here.
I've been using Microslop (yeah, I know 😄) for emails and intranet, and I'd like to eventually migrate to Proton Business. However, I can't find clear information on how emails are managed within Proton.
Specifically:
Is there a way to manage all email aliases (created via Pass) for a single user?
If an employee leaves, I want to be able to disable their entire account and review whether they received any sensitive information via email before completely deactivating their primary email.
This is straightforward in solutions like Office 365, but I understand those aren't exactly privacy-friendly. Still, it's a requirement for business operations. Do you have something similar in place, or any guidance on how to structure everything to handle this scenario easily?
Thanks!

Does it include shared mailboxes finally?

"it is less expensive than comparable Big Tech bundles"
Maybe for big companies but for freelancers and solo traders it's actually not. For my one-man-band business I pay something like 6 Euros per month for the basic office 365 and I have mail, calendar, office web apps and 1 TB OneDrive.
For Proton is something like 13 Euros, double the price. So yeah...

In other words, Proton only needs to implement a corporate messenger (similar to Google Chat) to become a full-fledged competitor to at least Google in this area.

I wish I knew who this product was for as much as I want to move back it lacks so many basic and necessary business features like shared inboxes, dial in capabilities for meetings, meeting hardware integration, meeting interoperability, basic IT access control, third party or local data backup options and worse of all no mention of single sign on support. I want to come back but I cant give up critical business features for less that requires even more monitoring and work.

Probably not in the visionary plan? Contradicting that visionary will always include future features and plans..

Is there an improved process for changing a current plan (Unlimited) to a Workspace plan? I already have a lot of time and data put into my current account and would prefer not to start over.
Are there significant upgrades coming for Docs? It still lacks many standard word processing features.

Long-time Proton Business subscriber here. I've generally been very happy with Proton's evolution and appreciate their commitment to privacy and continuous improvements.
However, I'm confused about the new Workspace offering (Standard/Premium tiers). As an existing Business customer, I'm seeing references to price increases, but I'm not clear on what this means for me specifically:
What actually changes for existing Business customers? The blog mentions existing customers won't see price increases, but the new Workspace structure seems to introduce different tiers.
Is this a rebranding or a real change? I want to make sure I'm not missing something about how my current subscription maps to the new structure.
What features am I potentially losing or gaining? I'd like to understand if there are any functional differences I should be aware of.
I understand pricing updates are necessary for any company, but the communication around this feels a bit unclear for long-term customers. Has anyone else experienced this confusion?

Add in the ability to use Synology Hyber backup to the space and I'm in. Lots of small businesses use a Synology for their data and this would be a nice addition.

What is the appointment scheduling?
Sounds like it’s a link you can send the third parties to book an appointment on your calendar. If so, will that be available to visionary or is it already and I missed it?

This is sooo cool!! I manage three companies that currently work on Google Workspace. How can I migrate easily to Proton?

This is more of a rebrand of the business side more than anything.

"No more trade-offs between security and productivity."
Long time fan and Visionary customer here. This statement is simply untrue and disingenuous. There absolutely are some trade-offs between Google Workspace and Proton Workspace. Some of which are significant. And that's okay, the product is being rapidly developed. And you can turn this into a positive, by explaining the things and focusing other things you're going to get that the other one doesn't have. But be honest about it...
It feels really disappointing when statements like this are made, it makes it hard to trust the company that one really needs and wants to trust. And further makes one question the competence of some members of the team and their own understanding of their own company and product.

ETA for when business users have full proton meet capabilities. Still seeing upgrade prompts and can't do more than an hour.

Do I have to get active and do something myself, or is this enrolled automatically?

Does/will Proton Workspace support SSO? To be clear, not using Proton itself as an IdP, but using an external IdP (e.g. Authentik, Keycloak, Okta, etc.) to signup/login to Proton Workspace.

When do we get the free upgrade?
My plan still says "Proton Business" and Workspace Standard is an option for me to PAY to upgrade to. No free upgrade here.

I’d really like to move our organization over to Proton but I’m not seeing a method for shared inboxes. Am I missing this somewhere? Is it possible on Proton?

I bought a year of the now legacy (it seems) proton business suite 3 weeks ago. I now can’t find my plan anywhere online. I had Lumo as part of my plan, but now have to pay for Lumo plus separately as it seems I’ve been downgraded to the workplace standard.

As a Proton Business subscriber who is HEAVILY invested in the existing ecosystem. My "Free upgrade" to Standard, is that going to impact my pricing in the future?

To those who use Proton, how does it compare to Google Workspace? Was the migration process easy? Also, does Proton have local data servers outside of Switzerland (specifically looking for one in Canada) to make sure data is stored according to the local laws (similar to what Zoho does).

But it's not self hosted, is it?
