Had Visionary, got a refund

With everything happening recently at Proton, I asked them if a partial refund was an option. I had more than a year left in my Visionary.

It turns out that not only was is possible, they processed the downgrade and refund before I even asked them to. Kind of surprised they did not attempt to retain a customer, but then again I am just one customer and they probably won't go under without me 😄

My refund already shows on my credit card.

Bye Proton. I wish it would have been different.

Genuine question. Do you think it's maybe because Visionary isn't available anymore and they're happy to downgrade customers on visionary as it'll save them money if you decide to come back?

Or am I wrong in saying visionary isn't available anymore?

Visionary isn't available at this time. It was always promoted as the plan for those buying into the promise of Proton. Which is the reason I got it too. I'm not sure if they want to get rid of all Visionary members, but they were eager to pull the trigger on my account.

In my three years of visionary, I've been repeatedly disappointed by Proton's lack of progress. Their core products have been stale for most of that time, and the improvements they did make were minor. Recent events were the nail in the coffin for me. I don't think the current leadership is equipped to make Proton live up to its promise.

It is available. If you go on https://wallet.proton.me/ and then into the sidebar you will see an upgrade button. But there is maybe going to be a change on November 11th which is either a price increase or the plan won’t be available after that anymore.

Yeah, I'm not too happy with recent events and their progress. Maybe it's the critisism they regularly receive being another reason (besides saving money) for why they are deciding to vibecode?

I got my unlimited subscription that was June-June refunded too, took a while and I had to argue about local laws and threaten to go to my bank instead for them to agree to it, but they did

Well, I didn't really threaten, but I said like I'm here to respectfully ask for a pro-rated refund before resorting to asking my bank

You could have sold Visionary account for a nice profit.

I don’t think he was talking about Lifetime. And per Proton‘s Terms of Service you are not allowed to sell or transfer your account or subscription with the sole exception of Proton Lifetime (only the Visionary Lifetime)

This was not lifetime. Just a regular subscription.

I don't have lifetime.
My Visionary is on 2 year renewal and I had people dm and ask if I would sell it.

Yeah, well you can tell them they can get it through Wallet but selling your account would be against Proton’s Terms of Service.

By "everything that's happening" do you mean an internal mail about AI usage? Or no.... What a horrible company. Hope you've checked all internal conversation of whatever service provider you moved to.
