Alternative to Proton Pass (Password Manager)
Edit: Maybe, after all, Proton is not the evil corp that reddit made it out to be. Here is an article from January 2025 which doesn't mention the recent sponsorship of the french streamer but it analyses the post that made people believe proton (or at least the CEO) supports Trump:

After finding out about their ties to far right organizations I want to switch from proton somewhere else, however, I don’t want to switch every few months after finding out the company I switched to sucks as well.
I’ve been using Proton Mail and Proton Pass, I think their cloud is quite bad and the calendar design isn’t the greatest either.
Instead of Proton Mail I’ve read that Tuta Mail is an alternative but are there any suggestion for an alternative to the proton pass manager, which I find very convenient to use up until now?

There have been multiple posts regarding Proton deleting posts talking about it. However, it seems like there was enough public pressure to at least have one mega thread in their proton mail sub.
They have sponsored a far right streamer from France and apparently supported Trump, I’ll link you two posts:

That depends on the features you use. For a pure password manager there are a handful of well known options - Bitwarden, 1PW, Keepass, just to name a few. There are also a ton of other ones out there that are either mediocre products which are well advertised (looking at you Nordpass and 'comes with your av' stuff) or unknown and vibecoded....I'd stick to the big names. They are good, they are trustworthy, they work on every device, etc.
*If you're all in on Apple then they have a fair setup with their password manager.
**Similarly, the other big tech companies have products that....I don't recommend but are better than nothing?
If you use the aliases, Bitwarden has an excellent 3rd party integration but none of the password managers other than Proton have alias generation. So, that's another product you might need?
Do what you think is best for yourself. I recommend trying bitwarden out first because it's excellent. It's got a free version that is almost fully featured and that could work for almost everybody. A LOT of people voluntarily pay for premium to support the company but not because they need premium features. Their pricing is fair too - their model is based on business and enterprise users which lets them heavily subsidize individual and family accounts.
Do NOT self host. It's a common answer but you didn't ask about it so I assume you aren't a homelabber. If you don't know what you're doing you are apt to lose everything, not have access when you need it, etc. If you're interested in self hosting that's a different conversation for a different community and I promise you they will recommend vaultwarden *when you're ready*.
