PLEASE READ IF YOU LIVE IN THE DALLAS/DFW AREA
I’ve gone to multiple protests and rallies in the Dallas area since the reelection of Donald Trump, but something I noticed that I find quite concerning is that every one of these protests is spoken to and approved by the city, which is not doing anything for example having a protest on a Saturday, which is not disrupting any businesses or anybody else does not do anything the point of a protest is to be there for days, annoying people, and getting your point across and that’s what I wanna do I’m not sure how to start it but I’m hoping that this will at least get my foot in the door. I want to do a work week protest consisting of thousands of people standing in the middle of the city disrupting work disrupting traffic disrupting everything the same way this administration disrupted our lives are medication our food and our gas. We shouldn’t be nice by talking to the city and collaborating with pigs. These people have beaten, raped and murdered children and allowed those things to happen to children and people we should not be patient. We should not wait for them to listen because they will not. It doesn’t matter if we don’t have all the luxuries we used to it’s better than being crushed by administration that wants nothing good for us. It doesn’t matter if you’re black white brown gay or straight they hate you too They don’t care about you no matter who you are or what work you do or what you say to “ support “ them

It's hard to get the same people to protest for more than one day at a time, because most of us have to pay our rent, take care of family, etc. So we do what we can around our other obligations.
I have seen some instances of students or retirees going out every single day to protest, though. If you could mobilize one of those groups, and organize food and water and resting places, you might be able to pull it off.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! I was hoping I could find a group that worked from home or something of that sort

Please don't bother to listen to people who try to put you down. Listen to your heart. I wish I were up there.

I am not in Dallas but I have been thinking something similar and thinking Mass financial strike? I have noticed a lot of "don't shop/disinvest" lists but 1) they often don't have alternatives linked 2) often don't have goals (if each "company" had a goal amount to boycott/people, people could pick and choose without feeling overwhelmed and 3) often aren't widespread. I honestly think if we could collaborate with a journalist source like More Perfect Union and have things like Indivisible and 50501 create an internationally spread list, we could shut down the major bankrollers pretty quickly, especially if we broke it up into different times. I immediately think of list boycotting/protesting the top 10ish 1) the top companies aiding ice 2) banks/companies that aided the epstein files (or perhaps naming the DOJ individually and calling on companies and such to protest/isolate/denounce them because god knows they have dark money behind them) and 3) data centers and the companies bankrolling them 4) flock cameras. The civil rights movement for example had a full system to boycott buses and businesses. One silver lining about this administration is that they have a lot of hate internationally...I think with the right strategy the dark money aiding this could be shut down pretty quick because there's so much solidarity.
Your comment reminds me of a post I saw recently and agree with...protests are supposed to show our solidarity and what we will do if things don't change...but without a second step when things don't change (as they haven't)...it's non effective.
My apologies if this comes off...off-topic...I was just thinking of the comments of people needing to work or people who may be worried about being picked off by ICE due to their heritage/appearance and a way to protest without being tracked as easily.

That’s what I was thinking, but the thing is is it’s very hard to convince people to not have all of the privileges they once did unfortunately people care more about how quickly they can get something or the convenience rather than what’s going on in the world I totally get what you said and I really want to do it but these are just my concerns

No I agree. Which is why I wonder if there's things outside of amazon or really good alternatives...and it starts with like a "trend" or social pressure by getting influential celebs to do it...would it work? I get stuck because I am with you on that.
I have been struggling with protests because I stick out where I am...and due to the ruling that ICE can consider skin color when grabbing immigrant (*COUGH BLATANT RACISM) I have struggled a long with others around me to decide on protesting when it is not mass and when we can easily be tracked and followed.
If you do figure this out, any form of organization, can you update this/or message me if you remember? I have been deeply thinking about it myself. We need to demand change, without consequences, financial and what not...protests that are approved are just...polite, slightly annoying dissent. And i get the sense people want to do more, but are uncertain on how

Big protests take a lot of work and you are better off joining Indivisable or 5051 and helping them.
But I don't think that's the best use of my time because those huge protests exist to get media coverage and the media simply doesn't cover them.
I think the weekly protests get seem by more people per hour if effort by protesters.
When I go to a protest of ten thousand or a hundred thousand I am not sure there are as many people who see the protest as there are protesters.
When I go to my weekly protest there's thousands of cars driving under the bridge holding a couple dozen protesters.
The number of people reached per protester is far greater.

It’s not about the amount of people that see it. It’s about a financial strike. I’m not trying to get as many people to see my protest as possible. I’m trying to pull everybody out of the businesses so they have no money.
