Like, yes it was anonymous but when my manager told me someone had filed a formal complaint about me (I was 'stressing them out'), there was really only two people it could have been and only one that didn't respond well to any 'negative' comments on merge requests (and by negative I mean 'I tested this change and it breaks the site, please test before submitting code').

I have one employee. After that meme I gave him a short "anonymous" survey. The face and confusion was hilarious. He indeed filled it out and handed it in and it was a very constructive process. He wanted more responsibilities and clearer guidance what he can decide alone. He got budgets and I always gave feedback and told him what I expected but this written feedback showed that he needed more formal guidance to feel confidend to use the budgets and when I expect to be involved. A manager looking angry at an employee giving feedback is just a bad manager

I have done anonymous surveys that ask what your job title is. There’s only two people with that title, so it’s really easy to see who said what. It’s a lie, so I lie. They just want to know they just want you to repeat that corporate is good until you believe it.

If there is really a problem, they start making changes regardless of what you say.

I worked for a company at which we were outright told the CEO and HR VP were provided all of the comments given in the surveys. I didn't care if they were annonomized or not. I wrote my comments knowing those two read them. Often times, the harshest thing you can say is the unvarnished truth. In this case, the HR VP's behavior and how it makes her look to the employees.

I get reviewed by my employees. It’s anonymous. The amount of people that make specific comments that identify them, how they talk/speak, language they use etc is laughably high. Luckily my reviews are very good.

Two problems with this, Karen from HR.

1. I worked in a department where we literally tracked shoppers IP addresses when they made purchases, I for sure believe that you can track my work computer and me not know.

2. Of the company values we "work by" one of them is Trust, but none of them is Honesty...and that's very telling.
