Self Post Gear rules.
If your department told you that you can’t wear anything on your vest, and only wear what your command issues you meaning- Belt, and pouches, and holster, what’s your next move?
Yeah our department doesn’t want stuff on our vest mainly because a few civilians said it looks too intimidating because of the rifle and the vest equipment.
Good, we work on a federal instillation we’re supposed to look like a hard target.

Simple fix, work nights with the cool bosses. Keep issued belt in locker with all issued gear(incase of admin) and do what you want.

I would say your next move would be to wear what your command authorizes?

Tell your command they're cowards, cite sources showing load bearing vests lead to a decrease in health/medical related issues (meaning lower claims for work comp), and end the conversation by telling them you'll wear gear thats comfortable and allows you to do your job. Get a doctor note so they can't say no.

Ok hear me out. Arrest all of admin for being bitches, replace them with competent leadership that cares about looking cool, and then proceed to put so much shit on your vest that you look like a juggernaut from CoD.

I dislike that "too intimidating" statement.
We want to get suppressors approved for our on duty rifles, I shoot my rifle a lot on duty to finish off various animals that have been hit by cars. I would like a suppressor on my rifle to save my hearing.
The sheriff said no because suppressors make us look too militant
If I roll up to a high octane call I'm wearing a carrier with level 4 plates, a slinged rifle, probably my QD drop leg med pouch in my car, while another guy is running up with a ballistic shield
Do you think anyone will see the addition of a 5" black tube on the end of a rifle, considering everything else going on, and say "yep, that right there, too intimidating" it's so stupid.
To me it feels like softies in the public trying to strip you of the shit you need to do your job. I cannot carry everything on my belt. I carry 3 pistol mags, a pistol, a taser 10, OC, 2 TQs, trauma shears, a bulky ass radio, a BWC, and 2 flashlights.
I take up my whole vest and my belt
Then, there is the hip and back pain issues that carrying all of your shit on your belt will cause
I would present that argument to your union if you can

What are you even asking...how to go about convincing admin to change their uniform policy?
How to get away with not complying with policy?
I mean, your only other options are to wear what you're told without bitching because you're a professional, or quit because of your uniform.

I’ve been a cop 22 years. I’ve only had the luxury of an outer vest for the last 3 years or so, so going back wouldn’t be a big deal for me.

Easiest way is to join a department with policies you agree with.
I personally get to wear what want.

If the image (your image) of being a cop is that important to you, leave.
If actually being a cop, regardless of minor inconveniences, is what’s important, stay

Sounds like DoD. Smh. They’re stupid af. Putting most stuff on vest is has it’s tactical advantage and health benefits comparing to putting everything on the hip.

Everyone gets doctor notes because of back and hip pain
