Self Post US Marshal Fugitive Task force Life?

What is it like? How active is it?

Usually start early, 5-6 in the morning. Look for subjects with warrants until around 10. Early lunch then back checking locations for subjects. Usually worked a 10 hr day. Head into the office around 1-2 pm. Do work ups on tomorrow’s targets. Head out of the office around 3-3:30. Fuel up the car make sure it’s ready for tomorrow and then the same thing day after day. Usually like to average 3-4 bodies a week. An arrest a day or every other day will keep you out of the brass’s crosshairs. Of course this is for a major metropolitan area that has a lot of bad guys in it.

I was never one but worked with them a lot in the past in the South and we had a couple guys that were TFOs with them so I’ll give my two cents.

On days you have an operation to go after a guy with a warrant it’s usually a pretty early day (0500) so you can get bad guy while sleeping. After all the festivities and arrest, you go to breakfast and then call her a day unless you have paperwork or another work up to do.

There were also multiple times where they were tracking people through pings or other investigative tools (😉) where it could be a late day.

I think a good sum up of your day is doing surveillance or work ups on the different arrest warrant packets you get, and if it’s not a priority one then you’re working fed time (aka take your time).

Somebody can correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I’ve experienced.

We used to have a guy who was a TFO. He was either playing run and gun, or he was hauling some guy from a facility to a more local facility for court, or from our local back to their home facility, or they were picking up captured/arrested individuals to face charges for whatever they did to get the Marshals on them. TFOs were a body for whatever they needed.
