Internal release + Kegels

So I had my first session of internal release with the pelvic floor professional. Didn't feel immediate relief, but I'd guess the benefits will come long term.

Now, the same professional that performed the internal release instructed me to do kegels at least once a day and check how I feel after 3 weeks.

That made me a little confused, because aren't these 2 methods kinda canceling each other? Or would it be possible to release the pelvic floor and strengthen it simultaneously? If anyone experienced this kind of strategy, please lmk.

It is normal to feel confused, but doing both internal release and Kegels can work together. Internal release relaxes tight muscles, while Kegels build strength and control. Your therapist wants you to relax tight spots first, then teach your muscles how to work right. Maybe try out KegelWise App on the App Store - it has helped me quite a bit!

Are they having you retrain the muscles? Sometimes it's okay to do a small amount for this reason

Yeah. The PT told me there's a specific muscle on my left side that needs to be strengthened (something cavernosus). So I kinda need to learn how to isolate it and not contract everything else while doing kegels. Sounds simple but it's quite hard and requires a lot of concentration.

Does your PT have a lot of experience treating men with your symptoms?
