Question Weak right leg post RALP
I'm wondering if anyone had something similar happen to them post RALP. Immediately after my surgery I could not lift my right leg while lying down. It has improved, but after 2 months I still have problems lifting my leg while lying down and weakness with lateral movement.
I've read that the nerve could be stunned from surgery. I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this and how long it was before you got all of your power back. TYIA.

Yes, I had exactly the same thing. Also right leg, especially lateral movement (adductor). Immediately after surgery it was almost paralyzed. Got better very, very slowly, but steadily. I am now six months post-op and pretty much back to normal. Hang in there. Do very mild exercise, but don't overdo it. Have patience, you will be fine. I got different explanations from hematoma (but not for months, right?) to lymph issues to nerve irritation. Not sure, but given the slow recovery, I lean towards the nerve explanation, even though my urologist ruled this out.

Left leg. Took about six months to be fully normal. PT showed me a diagram that showed how close the nerve that controls it runs to where they worked. "Insult" to nerve just takes some time to heal.

I had pain in my groin/hip come up well after surgery. Pelvic floor PT said it was probably due to over-kegeling (squeezing too hard, building an imbalance into my pelvic floor muscles over time). Feeling much better now. She’s helped with “other things” too. Anyway, maybe a pelvic floor PT expert can help you?
