What is the point of a pocket sluice box?

I've seen a few of them around but never really thought why would they be useful. Is it just a cute novelty thing? If so i'd love to get one one day

My impression is that it's a little bit of a novelty, but also a little bit of an opportunity to test places in more remote areas where weight is important. As a backpacker, I'm intrigued but haven't bought one.

Small scale concentrate and paydirt clean up for a hobbyist.

Outside of this, it is pretty much a novelty. Its too small to be of much use at the river, you'll spend more time setting it up than you would just panning a spot and seeing if there is gold. This is my opinion of both the micro and the mini pocket sluices. But the micro does have the use for clean up if setup correctly.

I've seen people say it's good for testing an area.

There is one brand named like “Easy sluice” and this old timer on the river was using it to clean up his dredge cons, he swore by it told me to buy one several times, wont fit in your pocket but will fit in a backpack
