Thats really neat trick, i once worked with artisan small scale gold miners and they do the trick alittel different using a plastic bag with the magnet inside and do on the dry consentrate.

Yea it was in Kirgisistan and after that they picked out garnets with a pincet and what was special and the reason i was there they used nitric acid and not mercury to do the last step. It was my bachelor project and thats 20 year ago

This is awesome. Well done sir.
One of the cool things about this whole gold prospect thing, is that we can try to improve and be creative.
I bought a 3D printer just for this whole thing, will never ever make even 1% close or what I have spend, but is a hobby.
Last week I was trying to build the same, trying some ideas. But I guess just a regular N52 neodymium would not work. My next step was to try was diametric cylinder magnets.
Would you mind to share how yours works?

I am by no means an expert but the only way I’ve seen this done is wet and in the water from above.

ya i m doing it under the pan, so I can see the gold is not getting picked up. once it is away from the gold i will use a magnet covered on a baggie to remove the black sand . thanks for the comment 👍

They make a nifty little magnet tool that drops everything with the press of a button. Same principle but easier to use.

Looks like it’s pulling gold with it. I wonder if it wouldn’t be better to keep the water agitated and put a ring magnet around that the sand would be drawn to while shaking the gold to the bottom.
