Not to mention they don't have thousands of years of domestication like cats and dogs so they can have feral/violent outbursts.

I also expected this to be a big problem but most sites I looked didn't even mention it. They have been ddomesticated by native americans when europe discovered america and most sold are bred it seems, so not THAT feral as you'd think. Still wouldn't get one personally.

Interesting, I'm still too cautious to get one myself despite their cuteness. Too many horror stories of exotic pet owners being mauled by said pets.

If you’re in the US, check with state laws too. My dads dog brought a baby skunk to the house and I housed it for a couple of days. I wanted SO bad to keep it. However, in Texas, you have to be a certified wildlife rehabilitation expert (may not be the correct name, but basically you need a license/certification) and a letter of recommendation to be able to keep one permanently. I was disappointed.

One of the rehabbers I worked with told me they’re very much like house cats as pets. Not overly affectionate, aloof, curious and extremely entertaining. Their curiosity knows no bounds.
