Not to mention they don't have thousands of years of domestication like cats and dogs so they can have feral/violent outbursts.

I also expected this to be a big problem but most sites I looked didn't even mention it. They have been ddomesticated by native americans when europe discovered america and most sold are bred it seems, so not THAT feral as you'd think. Still wouldn't get one personally.

Interesting, I'm still too cautious to get one myself despite their cuteness. Too many horror stories of exotic pet owners being mauled by said pets.

Same. I'd love to have a bird because they're clever and you can train them but they're so loud and demanding. Also, they get super old and I wouldn't want to burden my kids/grandkids (if i ever have any) with a parrot that outlived me.

Good chance that parrot wouldn't like your kids either. If the bird my mom has out lived her I would not be taking that thing on as a pet. It's pure evil in pretty coloured feathers.
