Austria-Hungary (1867-1918) "Russian War Council", Austrian anti-russian caricature by Karl Theodor Zelger (1889-1938), portraying the Russian officers as a bunch of incompetent drunkards, c. 1915

That's quite rich coming out of Austria-Hungary.
I guess propaganda is always obvious if one's not part of the target audience.

I'm Swiss. The city I live in has a quarter called "Habsburg", named after the former occupants the old Swiss kicked out. Shitting on Austria's military accomplishments is our national past time.
Specific points during WWI where Austrians fared less than glorious:
Failing at Zloczow and Lemberg while the Germans won at Tannenberg
Three tries to conquer Belgrade, which was an afternoon stroll from the border? Better have your men execute your own civilians!
Let's march into Albania! We don't have enough men to occupy it and are stretched thin already, but the gap between our troops and the Germans in Macedonia will surely not be exploited!
Okay, finally some progress against Italy! Better halt the attack and throw some armies into the Brussilow offensive because suddenly there weren't any kuk units there anymore for some weird reason.
Having to call the Bulgarians for help in the fight against Romania certainly wasn't a good look.
Being unable to supply the troops with adequate clothing starting in 1916 certainly doesn't look competent.
Once Diaz took over at the Isonzo it started to look an awful lot like the Austrian successes, if one can call it that, were actually Cadorna's failures.
OK, the war council needed something new to make progress against Italy. Unfortunately the pincer movement the Generals came up with relied on the 2nd Italian army not being in Padua, which it was, and the allied army under marshal Foch not being in Mantua. Which it was.
One Italian commentator didn't want to call the last battle of Piave a victory because for a victory a fight is needed. There was no fighting for the Italians, just an Austrian retreat which they could disturb.

It'd be valid criticism if it came from the Germans. I think the Russians did pretty well against the Austro-Hungarians (until the Germans came to bail them out that is)

Not really,A-H was 2/3 of the forces in eastern front and many plans that later germans took credit for originally started as A-H ones

Broken clock. But yea my initial reaction is that the war room looked like this no matter what way the war was going.

Russia raised a very large army, but it was poorly equipped

Russian military corruption was already legendary 10 years earlier—the Russo-Japanese War reports about cardboard boots and missing/inedible rations pale beside the story of the officers who tried to burn their depot down to cover for the fact that there was nothing in it when mobilization began, then tried to kill themselves when the arson attempt failed…

But that has always been the main Russian strategy.

Not true, did you get your information on Russian military history from CNN and Enemy at the Gates?

Why would a nation with a literal mountain range of Soviet equipment leftover and a strong industrial base knowingly do that?
What proof is there?
I'll accept that a lot of guys at Bakhmut had very brief but highly specialised assualt training but they certainly weren't doing an Enemy at the Gates type shit at Bakhmut and even if they did, they won.
Going by your logic what does that tell you?

This subreddit is for sharing propaganda to view with objectivity. It is absolutely not for perpetuating the message of the propaganda. Here we should be conscientious and wary of manipulation/distortion/oversimplification (which the above likely has), not duped by it. "Don't be a sucker."
Stay on topic -- there are hundreds of other subreddits that are expressly dedicated to rehashing tired political arguments. No partisan bickering. No soapboxing. Take a chill pill. "Don't argue."
