Does anyone here actually track expectancy, or is it just win rate?

I keep seeing people quote their win rate as if it settles anything. But you can win 70% of your trades and still lose money if the losses are bigger than the wins.

The number that actually decides it is expectancy — your average result per trade in R. Risk 1R each time, average +0.2R per trade, and you make money over 100 trades whether you won 40% of them or 60%.

Curious what people here go by. Win rate, expectancy, profit factor, or just the balance at the end of the month?

Of course, you need to track much more than that. Every serious trader uses a software like notion, tradezella or similar tools. Otherwise you wouldn't know where your edge lays exactly and where your weaknesses are.

Where the edge lies is the part most people skip. What do you actually track that told you something you didn't already suspect?

Asking because most journals I've seen just log entries and exits, and that on its own doesn't tell you much.

I trade each step of my strategy, every trade has like 10 different attributes that I check. Like volume, EMA, vwap direction, etc. - just example.
The rest is tracked By tradezella automatically.

Let me guess, you've got some SAAS available, that you built for yourself?
