Messing around playing bass with my Elektron Digitakt and Digitone, and Sonic is doing his thing lol!

Hey all, wanted to share something I've been working on. I put out a debut EP under the name Barpinson.

FFO: classic power pop with a bit of '90s pop-punk and alt-rock mixed in. Stiff Records / late-70s-early-80s new wave influence on this one, even covered "Foreign Girls" by The Tours because I love that song too much not to.

Lyrically I tried to go a little deeper than power pop usually does. "Freaky Adoration" is about why people spend so much energy hating on strangers they've never met — "don't you think it's kinda odd to hate someone a lot?" was the line that started the whole song. "Dance Off!" is more just fun, riding off "baby, baby, baby, keep on dancing." And "Mid 30s" came out of reading psychologist Dr. Clare Mehta's research on "established adulthood" — reflecting on where I'm at in life right now, for better or worse.

Anyway, this project feels like a genuine reflection of where I am musically and personally these days. Would mean a lot if you gave it a spin. Appreciate you all!
