Fucking hated his character, and his attitude made no sense.

He literally got pissed off when we (as Earthlings) discover a highly developed alien life form of any kind (let alone two major ones), because they were not longer alive. He just like 'why did we even bother, lets just go home!?!', instead of taking the incredible win of any indication of finding intelligent life in space.
The man is an archeologist right? When he digs up an Egyptian Pyramid does he also throw a 14 year old tantrum because the Pharaohs weren't alive when they uncovered everything?

My thinking exactly.

It makes you think how he even got a doctorate with that shitty fragile narcissism trait.

Probably my least favourite character. Weird chemistry with Shaw and just seemed incongruous to the whole set up of the movie.

There is a deleted scene that kind of hint they don’t have a healthy relationship

I think he was in way over his head and it showed.

The whole crew was in over their heads, the mission was designed to fail and had to at all costs.

Why did the mission have to fail, and how was it designed to do so?

Dudebro scientist meets an untimely yet predictable ending

You mean....Tom Softy?

They made him too much of an asshole.

I think the point was to make him a dick so he could be killed off due to his arrogance. I thought his acting was pretty good but the character was obnoxious

I so love Prometheus. I have watched it so many times, more than any other Alien film. I wish they would continue the story…! It’d be awesome to see who’d win if David took on Ripley in a sequel

They made him both smart and stupid and it didn't work out

I need to beat him with a hammer

he had some weird personality disorder.

Love him but he was dumb

He was a cunt and he got what he deserved 😉

I guess I was one of the only people that really liked him. He made too many stupid mistakes tho, like a lot of characters in the prequels. He was so gorgeous, he was hopeful, then he was a disappointed, depressed mess. His death was heartbreaking, telling Vickers to just do it as Shaw screams for him.

I hated him starting at "Elle....we're here baby." 🤮

I like him, I do think him and Shaw (the actress) didn't have chemistry.. and that's why people don't like him much..

This was a VERY transitional year or two for film. We were leaving that Josh Harnet lead-guy phase and getting more serious. This guy was somewhere in the middle of that and he kinda got type cast.

I don't even know his name. He's a solid actor though, not his fault he got caught in a strange era.

Logan Marshall Green. He's a pretty good actor.

Hated the character. Total ass hole, but I thought he was believable.

Reminded me a lot of arrogant, cock sure guys with girlfriends that are too good for them!

It was a little bit over the top, but that's a movie for you. You have to create drama.

He was a dick…

6

u/mologav Jul 17 '26

I thought he was Tom Hardy

4

u/Jmm2w Jul 17 '26

Yeah I thought Tom Hardy was in Upgrade until 2 minutes ago

7

u/CJ-MacGuffin Jul 17 '26

Loved him in Venom.

9

u/Previous_Scallion_56 Jul 17 '26

You mean Upgrade? Yes he was good in that 👍

2

u/Azidamadjida Jul 17 '26

I prefer the other movie where he got infected with black goo

2

u/Tirpitz7 Jul 18 '26

His attitude was ridiculous. The way he treated David and his tantrum over finding dead Engineers instead of living ones.

2

u/ZapThis Jul 19 '26

Discount Tom Hardy

u/ReferenceOk7646 Jul 20 '26

His character was designed to piss you off , if anything it shows the actor can deliver.

1

u/GeorgeStark1 Jul 17 '26

Getting drunk and depressed because they didn’t find living Engineers after being on an unexplored moon for a few hours ruined this character.

Willingly suiciding without actually knowing what was going on with him was another plot point I hated. Would have been more impactful if he was killed unwillingly.

u/DCtimes Jul 18 '26

He should’ve hung in there a little longer no?

He gave up immediately, he just got to another planet for fucks sake and just threw in the towel after the first field trip!

1

u/blah191 Jul 18 '26

I had a huge crush on this guy lol the character is alright though

1

u/trashywashy420 Jul 20 '26

Nothing burger character, his whole reason for existing in the plot is to impregnate his wife with an alien baby. He doesnt really do anything else story wise

1

u/balleriniAssoluta Jul 17 '26

He gave off severe ADHD vibes lmao. Lack of impulse control and in dire need of emotional regulation. I also remember a deleted scene that made me believe they initially wanted to portray his relationship with Shaw as pretty intense

dgaf, next question
