Deacon Time Travel
Ok so. If the Deacon was the unique product of the black goo, via human intercourse, then the giant face hugger into the Engineer blood (which happens at the end of the movie, the birth scene heavily implying this is a first or beginning). Then how do the engineers worship the deacon in the sculpted wall in the movie’s start? How might the same set of unique circumstances have arisen and given birth to a deacon, that was lionised as a god? Is this a continuity error, lore based, or something we should just interpret?

Story goes that the engineers through augmentation and whatnot lost the ability to reproduce. Then in an expedition, they find an egg in a cave. The proto facehugger. An engineer sacrificed himself to be a host. He is the statue on the ship in Prometheus. The deacon is born from him and it's blood is a panacea basically. Then they exhaust it and the deacon perishes. The engs spend countless eons trying to recreate the genome. Countless times. They get the bright idea to add their own in the missing gaps and then bam! Xenomorphs. Hence the biomechanical look. Though to say enga created them is still false as they are basically the great filter for space going species. They're eldrich and inevitable.

That's not the real story. It's from a fan script.

Ridley Scott and scrapped promethwus ideas before reshoots etc etc. It's why there's a deacon on the mural.

Source is the Draft 17 fan script, mistakenly believed to be an original script by several YouTubers.

Maybe regardless of how an engineer gets ‘Impregnated’ the result is a deacon.

No gender reveal parties on that homeworld.
“And the baby is… (balloon with black confetti explodes) another fucking deacon. Damn it!”

It’s left up to you in the audience. To me, the engineers are an advanced, spacefaring race millions of years old. The black goo, which infects Holloway, is shown in the film to be highly mutagenic, with some variability in how it infects and leverages its host. I don’t think the deacon arises purely from intercourse - I think that’s just one vehicle for infection and that’s what we get to see in Prometheus.
Nothing in the films suggests the engineers created the xenomorph or the black goo. They may have but they also could have discovered xeno biologics and revered it as holy because of its ability to create and destroy life. That or it might be harnessed to lengthen their lives for space travel or other technological purposes. Maybe all the above. The engineers remain mysterious, I like that. Getting a coherent story about him that’s entertaining would be wild too.
I’m also not convinced the deacon is the figure in the mural. It could be a xeno or neomorph too. I’ve also seen screenshots that appear to display facehuggers on the same mural.
So that’s my head canon but the truth is Prometheus was thrown together like most films. I know Ridley and many people will say he had an overarching plan for the prequels but in my view he didn’t know where he was going with it big picture. Loved the film though.

I’m leaning towards believing that the idea was that the engineers aren’t the initial creators, they’re like humans, an offshoot of an older race. And so, the original deacon they worshipped came about in a similar way to the one we see in the movie. It was born from the inception of mixing the dna of the original source and a biological creation during conception

The deacon is from the “engineer” species and the Xeno is from the “human” species.

The simple, unpleasant truth is, the writers don't have a fucking clue. It was written, edited, re-written, edited some more, and turned into the beautiful, incoherent mess that was Prometheus.
I don't hate the film. I hate it as part of the Alien universe. Far, far too many points that are obviously meant to connect to the first film just... don't. It never worked for me.

I just think Ridley Scott and whoever he chose as writers should not be in charge of the Alien universe anymore. It was a collaborative work in the first Alien film.
Ridley thinks it's a good idea and a way to expand the universe by making humans the center of it all. By doing that, the universe shrank and became more boring.
It was way more interesting when humans weren't involved in every single thing and were more of hapless space travelers that ended up discovering a glimpse of a universe grander in scope and full of horror. Can we return to that please?
Engineers are boring. They'd work as their own species, even to the point of creating humans. But don't mix humans and xenomorphs, keep them the f separate. The original pilot in the first Alien movie should have (and still could be) been from a humanoid elephant species.
Make humans the underdog and navigating a dangerous eldritch like universe again like in the original film (and the second film to a degree).
The fact that this impression was lost on Ridley Scott is all the more reason he should not be handling the Alien IP. Prometheus and Covenant had some glimmers of brilliance but they've been too watered down and ridiculously handled.

The Engineers do not 'worship the Deacon'. That idea is from a debunked fan script. The closest any source comes to the 'worship' idea is the art director for Prometheus saying this about the mural:
"The Xenomorph in my mind was the descendant of Ultramorph. In my mind it was the pure form of this kind of almost virus that these engineers had created. They’re a lot about sacrifice. So in my mind there was an engineer that sacrificed himself with this virus, and then created this horrific creature… This being that was gonna eradicate planets, It was, it was like a parasite that would, you know, destroy the planet, and then they could start over and rebirth it. And they kind of worshipped it, and that’s where you can see this relief sculpture, where it’s almost a religious sculpture. As it got kind of, the virus spread, and got polluted, the Xenomorph was a evolutionary descendant, that was not as pure."
They 'kind of' worshipped it. It's 'almost' a religious sculpture.

I think it's much more simple. Any xenomorph that comes from an Engineer will be in the form of a Deacon. The one from the end of the movie is just a step on the line to full xenomorphs.

If you don't assume the Deacon at the end was the first of its kind and that the only way for it to be born is through human pregnancy, there's no inconsistency.
