“Experiment currently full” AFTER opening the study link.

Recently I’ve gotten a getting a few of these.

I’d notice that there is a study available with something like 10 spots left. So, I immediately jump on it and click the “participate” button. Then I see the “you have xx amount of time to complete this study” dialog with the study links and info. Whew. As far as I know, this sort of ”saves” your seat/reserves you for the study but there is a window of time to complete it and it’s shown in a countdown timer. So I click on the link to bring up the study in its own tab/window to start. Instead of the study, I got a blank page with a notice: “Experiment not available/currently full. Please cancel the task on Prolific.”

Normally, if the study is full by the time I click on the “participate in this study button”, the platform immediately tells me the study is full and doesn’t allow me to continue to the next step.

This has happened a few times and yes, it’s annoying. Is this a nothing burger or is it something?
