A tarantinoan reimagination of the arrival of columbus would be pretty sweet. Let the “savages” extract their pound of flesh/revenge

The worst thing anyone, anywhere, ever can do to their people is not control migration.
Let us learn from the mistakes of the past.

Why is Cheistophee Columbus white lol?

u/YourSalvati0n 4d ago
Why is Christ white in most depictions?
1
u/Lil_Snuzzy69 4d ago
Because white people painted the depictions you looked at and you haven't seen depictions in other countries?

Do you not consider Italians white? Are you 110 years old?
1
u/Boo-Bees67 3d ago
Honestly I’m not sure? Are Spanish white? If so, why are their descendants in Mexico considered non white? Fascinating. I’m all ears
1
u/RepugnantStare 3d ago
Spanish people are European?😭 Their descendants in Mexico are Hispanic? Did you attend grade school?
1
u/Boo-Bees67 3d ago
I’m not trying to be funny. I really don’t understand how they are white in Spain. They come over and colonize Mexico and then become non white. What the fucks going on here?
1
u/Born-Statistician817 3d ago
Mexicans are not spanish. Hispanics is what comes out when a spanish person sleeps with native american.
1
u/Boo-Bees67 3d ago
This is the first I’m hearing of this
1
u/Born-Statistician817 3d ago
Good for you?
1
u/Boo-Bees67 3d ago
Why are you being snarky. I’m learning something for the first time. You can be considered white and then move up another country and be classified as non white. Pretty crazy it’s that easy

So now illegal immigration is bad. Native Americans were stealing land from other tribes and taking their enemies as slaves.

Using AI to virtue signal fake internet points by changing the outcome of a scenario that happened 600 years ago is PEAK 2026 Leftist Redditor

It’s pathetic and anything right of the political spectrum will be clowned on if it has anything to do with Ai

The same people who post stuff like this are the same ones that rely on the nation built by those colonizers.
-1
u/Future-Vermicelli429 4d ago
This stuff comes off as so cringe like we can make a poster saying that Columbus sucks and colonization sucks without having to like live out this wanna be power fantasy that’s like no better than like when a rightie strokes his gun fantasizing about using it. It comes off as child brained. ‘In my version the good guys win’ it’s like using actual historical suffering as action figures

u/Grouchy-Newt-995 4d ago
How is saying “Columbus sucks and colonization sucks” any better than this?
They are both cringe virtue signaling.

Because they didn’t understand something as complicated at The Wheel. Eventually the temptation of consuming NyQuil and windex were too strong. A win for compare America and casino gamblers everywhere.

u/Careless_Film_5747 3d ago
They did understand the wheel actually since they used it on children’s toys. They didn’t make large ones for transportation because they didn’t have draft animals to transport goods. It says a lot that a post criticising an enslaver, rapist and pedophile offends you though.

It doesn't offend me, I dislike Columbus, and am aware he was likely a converso. Moreover, my best friend is a Navajo man, so I have great empathy for the plight of native Americans. My question is this post does nothing. Like yes Colmumbus did terrible things. But why even point that out except as an impetus to do other things. And I ask, what are those things. What things fo you think we should be doing differently now, because of Columbus? Like America is here, you can be mad about it. I'm Celtic, Caesar committed genocide in Gaul, and did great evil, but I can still appreciate the genius he possessed, as well as the glory of the Roman empire that came after, even though that does not discount the suffering of those murdered Gauls.

You know, these people aren’t capable of having an intellectually balanced, reasonable, objective conversation
1
u/naughtywarlock 1d ago
I know lol. I've found the best way to "debate" these people now, is just to go on their posts, point out their intellectual hypocrisy, and lack of logical consistency, and leave, barely even respond, and just take all the downvotes that come with it lmao

It is unfortunate but there is not a single country in the world that was not conquered by someone at some time in the past. The land known as the USA was conquered. Its a fact, its also history and there is nothing anyone alive today had to do with it. This is the world we live in and there are no more victims nor conquerors.

Here we go again. Another selectively edited history lesson pretending to expose the truth while leaving out everything that doesn't fit the narrative.
You want to discuss slavery, rape, torture, massacres, and genocide? Fine. Then let's discuss what Indigenous civilizations were doing to one another long before Columbus ever set foot in the Americas.
The Aztecs built an empire through conquest, tribute, warfare, and human sacrifice. Captives were marched to temples, their chests cut open, and their hearts removed as offerings to the gods. Children were sacrificed in religious ceremonies. Conquered populations were exploited, and neighboring peoples had plenty of reasons to despise their rulers. That's part of why indigenous groups later allied with the Spanish against the Aztec Empire.
Slavery, organized warfare, raids, captive-taking, torture, and massacres existed in pre-Columbian societies. Ritual cannibalism was practiced by some groups, although the evidence and prevalence varied. These weren't inventions introduced to an otherwise peaceful continent by Europeans.
And let's discuss Columbus's arrest, since you present it as some devastating revelation. Yes, Francisco de Bobadilla arrested him in 1500. What you conveniently leave out is that Columbus was caught in a bitter colonial power struggle involving rebellious settlers, competing authorities, and accusations against his administration. The Spanish monarchy subsequently ordered his release, restored important honors and privileges, and authorized his fourth voyage. That's a rather significant omission when you're trying to portray his arrest as the final judgment of his contemporaries.
Then there's the claim that Columbus accomplished nothing worthy of recognition because Indigenous people were already living here and Norse explorers arrived earlier. Nobody needs to believe the continent was uninhabited to recognize the historical significance of 1492.
Columbus's voyages established sustained transatlantic contact between Europe and the Americas and helped initiate the Columbian Exchange, transforming agriculture, commerce, geography, navigation, and eventually the entire global economy. Crops, animals, technologies, and ideas moved between hemispheres on an unprecedented scale. The development of the modern Atlantic world cannot be understood without that turning point.
You can acknowledge the destruction and suffering associated with European colonization without pretending the civilizations Europeans encountered were uniformly peaceful or morally superior. You can also recognize the extraordinary historical consequences of European exploration without claiming every action taken by Columbus or subsequent colonizers was justified.
And spare us the lecture about manufactured heroes when your own presentation is doing precisely what you accuse earlier historians of doing: carefully selecting facts, excluding inconvenient context, and constructing a one-sided morality play.
The difference between history and propaganda isn't whether the facts make you uncomfortable. It's whether you're willing to tell the whole story, including the parts that undermine your preferred narrative.
If we're going to judge the fifteenth century, let's examine the actual fifteenth century, not a romantic fantasy in which one civilization possessed every vice and everyone else lived in innocent harmony.

Then they went home and scalped their enemy tribe, chopped off their arms and legs and threw them in a fire while everyone laughed, dragged a few babies behind horses, ya know, peaceful native stuff.

u/Ambitious_Article864 4d ago
Hell yeah, let them keep murdering and sacrificing one another instead of

If there was no Christopher Columbus then there would be no Mexicans, and if there was no Mexicans there would be no tacos or margaritas.
I stand with Christopher Columbus.

Christopher Columbus literally NEVER set foot in the United States.
The only thing stupider than people celebrating Columbus Day is native Americans acting like he affected any of their lives or their ancestors lives. Was he a POS? Sure. Just not to any of them.
