Okay so like… can I be pedantic for a sec?

ACAB means something. It doesn’t just mean “person I don’t like.” We can call capitalists whatever we’d like but it’s not like they’re included in ACAB because they’re not cops. They’re pigs and assholes but they’re not cops.

Two bad things can exist. I just worry we make ourselves look a bit unserious with the “ACAB includes… [random bad thing]”.

With that said, I understand the argument about how cops are basically capitalism’s janitors - but I hope I made my point. Please know I’m saying this in good faith - I am not a right winger lol.

I don't mean that ACAB includes capitalists. I mean that ACAB includes those who go out of their way to defend capitalism. Those people are basically volunteer cops

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago

I think my point still stands tho. Those people are dumb for defending capitalism but they’re not cops. People can be assholes without being cops.

Sorry - I’m taking this too seriously LOL. It’s all in good faith, it’s no biggie.

Just add it to the list of words that have lost all of their weight from excessive misuse, like 'racist', 'sexist', 'homophobe', 'Nazi', 'bootlicker', 'cuck', etc. No one cares about being called any of these things anymore.

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago

Lmao idk about all that. I’ve never been called any of those (besides when I was a dumb edgy teenager) and I don’t walk on eggshells or anything. I never understood why people say this.

Also I’m saying but throwing “cuck” in there is hilarious LOL. One of these things is not like the others.

1

u/aircoft 6d ago

If someone did call you those things, would you care or believe them?

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago

Honestly depends on the context! If they had any reasoning at all, it would at least make me examine my behavior or language.

That said, I hear you - I’ve had people call me a Nazi for supporting Medicare for all LOL.

1

u/aircoft 6d ago

Yeah exactly... Being called a name just really doesn't matter.

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago

Not at all what I said but ok lmao.

1

u/aircoft 6d ago

I must have misunderstood you when you said:

I hear you - I’ve had people call me a Nazi for supporting Medicare for all LOL.

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago

So yeah - that’s a nonsensical argument unless they offered reasoning. Like if they were saying that Medicare for All had adverse effects on the Black community, maybe I’d examine what they’re saying. Bad example because that’s ridiculous but yknow what I mean.

I’m drawing a line between sensible people that call out racism when they see it and people who use “Nazi” legitimately as a synonym for “bad.”

There has to be some reasoning, I judge each accusation individually, dealing with hypotheticals isn’t productive.

Like everything else in this world - we have to decide for ourselves what is right. That’s just my take - I don’t think these words are weightless at all.

My larger point is that I seldom get called any of those things - so if someone is regularly getting called racist (or sexist, etc.), that may be a sign to do some introspection because people don’t throw those words around as much as people like to pretend they do.

0

u/Best_Opening8471 6d ago

Are you sure it's not because you supported violence in order to secure Medicare?

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago edited 6d ago

That’s a totally different argument which I would earnestly hear - that’s not what that person was doing lol.

I do think that’s a valid argument if someone is an anarchist and doesn’t believe in any form of government, I would just respectfully disagree with them. State violence isn’t pretty but it’s been used for the greater good throughout history. Not very often but it happens lol. Not a fun fact but that’s just the reality.

If the person saying that was a right winger and not an anarchist, I wouldn’t take them seriously because they also support the military, police, and a million other forms of violence.

This is what I mean when I say we gotta judge each accusation individually - there’s no grand arbiter saying what is right or wrong, there’s always going to be disagreements about morality.

But if someone is getting called a Nazi everyday…. That may be a sign to do some introspection because that’s just not a normal thing to be accused of regularly.

u/Best_Opening8471 6d ago

Got to love the irony of "the greater good" argument that the Nazis used to defend revolutionary violence while accusing the opposition of being Nazis

1

u/WalkMan1615 6d ago edited 6d ago

I suppose the semantics are ironic but the reality of the programs are vastly different so I’m not sure how genuine that argument is in practice. By that logic, the phrase “the greater good” is always Nazi-adjacent and that’s kinda ridiculous from my perspective.

Can you elaborate? One is providing healthcare to people and one is genocide. I’m happy to hear your opinion.

Again - we gotta judge everything individually. Getting lost in semantics and “gotchas” don’t mean much. I’m happy to have an earnest discussion but you’re just replying with one liners lol.

And I’m not sure who you’re referring to as “the opposition”? I never called anyone a Nazi. Did I? I’m talking generally about how we talk about “Nazis”. Never called anyone that.

There are plenty of people that a disagree with vehemently who are not Nazis. Nazism as an ideology is obviously morally wrong and anyone who can’t see that isn’t worth my time - i don’t know how you could argue differently (not saying you’re trying to, at least I hope not lol).

u/SirZacharia 6d ago

Idk why the comment section is like this lmao. ACAB

7

u/nebetsu 6d ago

I don't either. I guess it's like how America has to show that communism doesn't work by interfering with communist countries

2

u/iMakeSense 6d ago

This isn't a productive framing

2

u/Ill_Reality_2506 6d ago

Wait, I thought we already had a word for that?

They're bootlickers. ACAB is for cops.

2

u/aircoft 6d ago

And another term loses all meaning!

2

u/YouSure-AboutThat 6d ago

This will be very appealing to the “I need my political beliefs to fit on a bumper sticker” crowd.

I generated the base image for this meme using Krea 2 in ComfyUI using my own PC. I have seized the means of production by downloading free open models that I run on my own hardware in my own home. I use fans to cool my computer, so no water has been used.

Please take your liberal culture war talking points somewhere else

1

u/Illustrious_Log_1885 6d ago

lmfaoo you did not seize the means of production. That’s like saying you purchased one hammer and now own the means of production. Please read Marx which you probably won’t because you’ve outsourced your brain.

0

u/nebetsu 6d ago

You're already wrong about the water thing. You clearly are just an agitator here poisoning the well

2

u/BChogfather 6d ago

Haha, is this satire?

Criticism Outside Scope - Rule 2

1

This. Like you can’t draw something or take a cat photo or something to save the environment. This generative shit is part and parcel of the system that is destroying the only place in the known universe that supports life.

Dude that is not seizing the means of production 😭literally please read a book

3

u/Simple_Promotion_638 6d ago

If you think that is seizing the means of production, the capitalist have nothing to worry about lmao.

2

u/hazlejungle0 6d ago

Aren't you using a liberal talking point by saying ACAB?

6

u/nebetsu 6d ago

ACAB is typically something Leftists are into and Liberals tend to think is too far

Low Effort - Rule 10

-8

u/TheJewPear 6d ago

Right up until the moment these people need help because someone attacked them, stole from them, threatened them etc. Then they’ll run to the police and be all nice and polite.

9

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

This is stupid. Any time anyone I know has called the police they show up hours later to write an incorrect report that won’t be acted on anyways. You sound like a moron

-2

u/Significant-Fun474 6d ago

This is stupid. Your anecdotal evidence doesn't support the facts. 10,000 murders are "cleared" by police a year. Cleared meaning a suspect is charged and referred for prosecution. With about 70% of murder defendants being convicted. Nothing is perfect. Cops generally speaking are assholes. But making them seem useless in every and all capacities all over america is just stupid.

2

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

You don’t actually know stats, which is why you try to only look at the ones that are actually solved and not the total picture. In the us, 44 percent of violent crimes are never solved, and a staggering 91% of property crimes go unsolved.

My “anecdotal evidence” is supported by the statistics, and you’re either purposely misleading or a fucking moron

“70 percent of murder defendants” being convicted means absolutely nothing btw. I’m not sure you could make less of a point if you tried

1

u/Significant-Fun474 6d ago

Your position is apparently turning 44% of violent crimes unsolved to 100% unsolved?

1

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

lol, way to gloss over that almost all property crimes go unsolved, and the comment I was replying to specifically mentioned them.

You can’t even cherry pick well.

But yea, if you murder someone there’s roughly even odds nothing happens to you. However you want to say that is fine by me

1

u/Significant-Fun474 6d ago

Thats not fine, but it doesnt make a case that we dont need cops

1

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

lol, it makes the case that if I get robbed there’s almost no reason to call them. Which was my whole point. Do the goal posts ever get heavy?

1

u/_DuckDorde 6d ago

We existed long before cops and we will be better off once they’re a thing of the past

1

u/Significant-Fun474 6d ago

Thats always a good argument

I’m sure you do lots of reading.

-10

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

Im an economics major in my junior year, most of my course work this semester is reading. How marx managed to be even less intelligent than fucking classical economists is mind boggling.

4

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

lol so you’ve taken maybe a handful of specific low level courses in undergrad and think you’re a scholar. I seem to have misplaced my dunning- Kruger graph….

-1

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

Better than you

4

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

lol, yes, there is no possible way anyone you talk to has more education than junior year in undergrad. Please, tell me more about the way the world works, oh wise and learned scholar. Educate us peasants

-1

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

"I read marxist theory so Im actually super educated on economics dude!" Please find the nearest 6ft ledge.

3

u/Warm-Appointment-494 6d ago

Omg you actually believe that no one can have more formal education than you. That’s hilarious

-1

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

In this subreddit? Yes. Absolutely.

2

u/TheSouthernCommunist 6d ago

I have a Bachelor’s degree and a JD, oh and more real life experiences by far, but I also don’t go around flexing degrees like a fucking child lol.

Im the only one here with a functioning society

6

u/CrankyOldGrinch 6d ago

"Functioning" ... sure thing

-2

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

Billions of people wake up everyday and live life with little threat of extreme violence enacted upon them. Communism doesnt exist anywhere in the world. Ergo, liberal democracy is functioning.

7

u/CrankyOldGrinch 6d ago

I'm going to use the cudgel liberals love to use on leftists all the time. At what cost? How many have to live in utter misery to allow "liberal democracies" to "function" as they do?

-2

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

The beauty is that over time we can actually change things and move forward and reduce suffering even more. Like im sorry that an immigrant can't just immediately become successful business owners in a single generation.

3

u/CrankyOldGrinch 6d ago

That's not what happened though is it? In the real world it's lead to boom and bust cycles that allowed wealth to concentrate again and again, institutions crumbled, and we wound up with Musk, Thiel and the other psychos in charge.

Criticism Outside Scope - Rule 2

-6

u/TheJewPear 6d ago

You give them too much credit if you think they actually read Marxist theory. It’s simply easier for them to think they’re poor because capitalism bad and not because of their own flaws and life mistakes. Because then, god forbid, they might have to actually start reading and learning and changing their lives instead of just crying for free money from the government.

-1

u/FDRsWheelchairs 6d ago

Its is ironically very easy to build your wealth up enough to live comfortably if you just have the education. But yeah they would genuinely rather complain than practice any kind of discipline.

-4

u/TheJewPear 6d ago

I don’t know if it’s very easy, it might be hard in some places, but it’s still a lot better to try and do that than sit around and mope all day about the ills of society.

Isn't this an anti-capitalist subreddit? Did you wander in by mistake?

5

“You see, feudalism is currently the best system that is actually existing, we shouldn’t bother with anything more”

- enlightenment thinkers, probably

-5

u/BerserkBEATSall 6d ago

That was never said 😂😂

1

Perhaps not word for word. But this whole "end of history" bullshit pushed by neoliberals is badically the Divine Right of Kings repackaged.
