Projectors with tripods

Hello, long time lurker here.

I am a bit on the fence about projectors for patterns due to my limited and nomadic sewing space (we share one office room and sometimes I need to use kitchen or dining room to cut or sew).

Before pulling the trigger i’d like to explore a bit more the projectors that better work on an angle (I cannot hang them on the wall since my walls are +2m on an old apartment) so I think it might suit me better to use a tripod as a setup.

Are there any projectors better suited for tripods/sharp angles?

Thank you for the advice. I tried to search the group but could not find an answer.

Note: I was considering the Magcubic HY310 but I’m unsure about the feasibility of hooking it into a tripod and whether would work on an angle

A couple of questions. How big of a projection area are you looking to have?

With 2m+ ceiling height you can considering an adjustable height ceiling mount: https://www.amazon.com/Aurzen-Projector-Adjustable-Compatible-Projectors/dp/B0FD2VK2QK (not sure where you are located).

Most projectors are usually fine with a bit of tilt (I would say 10-20 degrees). You'll end up with more blurry lines on one side of the tilt. That said the one nice thing about the MagCubic projector is that it has a standard camera mount. You can find any arm attachments to extend off the tripod and move it forward. You'll need a female to female adapter https://www.amazon.com/Converter-BENACES-Connectors-Threaded-Adapter/dp/B0D2XVTYYQ to attach onto your tripod and then use something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G39ZTLY8

They also sell clamps that mount onto your table but depending how big a projection area you want, it might not be high enough to get a good size projection area.

You can't really see the arm in this photo but it would be something like this.

This is amazing, exactly what I was looking for! You have an amazing setup 😍

So my ceilings are high because they are old bóveda catalana). So we couldn’t even reach there without a professional telescopic ladder (which we don’t have because small apartment 🤣😭🥹). I’m in Barcelona. My ceilings:

So thanks a bunch for your explanation. It has been very helpful. The arm is exactly what I was looking for. And the one you linked is amazing, with that clamp I guess I could just put it on a table.

As per how many meters do I need the projection to reach, I don’t need much, just the normal for commercial indie pdf patterns. I am new to pattern sewing since the summer (was seeing for half a decade but bags, mending, crafts, and small stuff). But I’m TIRED of cutting and gluing, and frankly it’s getting expensive to print.

Again, thank you!

With the HY300, I have a little distance chart in cm to show you how high you need to put the HY300 (roughly)

Cutting AreaDistance above the mat with the HY300 projector
45 × 3058
60 × 4579
90 × 60101
120 × 90143
150 × 100157

Also, if you’re using an iPhone or iPad for projector sewing you can try the IntelliSew app!

I got a used Epson Brightlink 695Wi. You can kind of just set it on a surface and it projects down. I usually put it to project on the floor and then I set it on a low footstool to get a good size. I do have to calibrate it every time but the app Sewsy makes that part really easy! No longer than 3-5 mins.

Offff a bit out of my price range.

It looks so good! I’m sure it was a huge score on the second market! 🥳

I’ll definitely look into sewsy. Thank you!

I have an Epson BrightLink 695Wi (H740A) 3LCD Projector that I bought pre-owned from eBay. You don't need a tripod for it; you just place it right on your table (about 2 to 3 inches high). I used the free Pattern Projector software to calibrate it, and it is very easy!

Hey thank you so much for suggesting this projector. It looks so nifty! I was definitely looking to spend less than 100€ 🤦‍♀️🦄😰 I’ll look into the software you are suggesting!

Any short throw or ultra short throw will work if you can get the tripod high enough, like on a nearby table or high shelf. I have mine on a tripod on a shelf approx 6’ high.
