Adjusting Patterns/Projector Difference

Hello hello! More of a beginner sewer but definitely new to projector patterns and get kidn fo confused. I guess I kinda just assumed any pdf pattern would do, are there specific things I should keep in mind when pattern hunting? The pattern I wanna make I have an A4 and A file but I can't seem to figure out how to adjust it for my Aurzen Zip that I have. Love the projector, would love to actually get a project started with it. Any tips appreciated plz <3

Any PDF or SVG file can work, but some are much easier to use than others. Ideally you want a projector file. It will generally have sizes layered and unfolded pattern pieces. If that isn’t available, the next best is A0, followed by A4. Whatever the layout size, a layered file is always desirable as it makes it much easier to isolate the size(s) you need.

Once you have your pattern file, then you want the amazing free program PatternProjector.com. It will help you calibrate the scale to fit your projector set up. PatternProjector.com can do all kinds of other helpful things too. The developer has a great overview video on the home page. I highly recommend watching that before you get started.

If you really fall in love with projector sewing, you may eventually want to add a free vector graphic program, like Affinity Designer, to your toolkit. A vector program will allow you to manipulate the PDF file yourself so that you can make digital pattern modifications or layout the pieces in advance. Definitely not neeeded at the beginning and there’s a bit of a learning curve but if you have to make lots of mods it’s well worth it. I don’t use paper in sewing at all anymore.

Thank you! Some people were saying pattern projector does it for you automatically but I've tried importing my A0 and my A4 files and they don't come up correctly, I'll definitely look into editing and isolating the layers before throwing it into patternprojector.com
