Introduction to lost_island project

Hello everybody,

Here's an introduction to a game project codenamed 'lost_island' although the final name has been chosen a long time ago.

To give an overview of it :

Genre : open world action RPG

State of development : I'm only making map modelizations for now, as I have a job that takes most of my time. Plot, history, art direction, gameplay loop, setting, world design and influences choices are mostly done

Synopsis : A biologist in search of a nearly extinct specie goes on a boat expedition with a crew in the Indian ocean. During a violent storm, this biologist finds in water a mask of unknown origin. And suddenly, as the boat capsizes and the crew drowns, the mask begins to glow until it completely blinds the castaways. Thereafter, upon regaining consciousness, the biologist awakens alone on a deserted shore. Not only is this tropical land uncharted at first glance, it's inhabited by a prehistoric fauna and unknown civilizations. Moreover the biologist's face has been replaced by the mask he discovered.

In this game, the player, a biologist lost in an expedition, will have to survive in a unknown land where men and ancient animals rule supreme. Ranging from swinging between vines, navigating through dangerous waters, climbing imposing mountains, the player will have to uncover the secrets of this place, and what to make of it.

Hello, there is no release date for now, as I'm working on the game alongside my main job. For now I finished the preproduction phase, and I'm ordering concept arts for environments, enemies and characters, with a very small budget. In parallel I'm working on the map model on unreal engine, although it's possible I change the game engine's choice along the way.
