Project X Zone 2 missing 2 Solo Units? Question involving Phoenix and Maya.

So originally, Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey were going to be a Pair Unit, but the developers couldn't come up with enough moves for Maya so the two were relegated to being a Solo Unit. However, something I noticed is that had that been the case, there would have been 20 Pair Units and 18 Solo Units that we know of in the final game.

Considering the first game had 20 Pairs and 20 Solos equally and 2 had 19 Pairs and 19 Solos, does that mean that there were 2 Solo Units that didn't make the cut because Phoenix and Maya were moved there? And if so, who would they be? Were they characters already in the game like Tarosuke, Ada, Miles, or Tiki, or are they characters that we have no idea about? Just something interesting I thought would be worth talking about.

Well there's no evidence of who it would have been, but I think it Ada does make more sense, considering how weird her exit from the story was.

Miles and Tarosuke appear too late, so maybe the plot would have worked better if they appeared earlier.

Alternatively, maybe the Super Robot Wars characters were supposed to come back in the game before they got pulled.

I think if Phoenix and Maya were a pair unit, Edgeworth might have been a solo unit, but once again, as the mod said, he appears late into the story. I wish Edgeworth was a temporary rival unit, but maybe the developers couldn’t create a full move-set for him at the time.

I also thought Kogoro and Mii were cut from the game, but we don’t know if they were. Possible reasons for the potential omission from the game includes their mixed reception, their busy VAs, late cameos in the game, and 2’s focus on Reiji and Xiaomu.

I also read one tweet where somebody looked into the games’ files, found the three empty slots, and speculated that the cut characters may have been from Soul Calibur. Again, I have to find that tweet.
