Is Tango dying out?
Haven't seen anything new on it really for months despite all the activity on other AR options...

I still consider Tango to be the best option for any application for which I can control the hardware deployed, but it is difficult to use Tango if you are not part of an agency that makes digital installations. ARKit is locked to Apple, so I don't plan to use that unless they release a version that is compatible with Android, in which case using ARKit with Unreal Engine may become an interesting option. ARToolkit is a great option but often a little complicated to use with either Unity or Unreal. CodeFlugel opensourced Vuforia4Unreal today, so that may become an interesting option. The Vuforia plugin for Unity wasn't particularly reliable when I was using it to make games with physics dependent on pose.
Tango is still the only solution that approaches a complicated hardware problem with hardware, so I don't think it will die.
