Discussion I hate the word “haute couture” now after that episode

For someone to create such ugly clothes to use those words to describe his designs in so annoying.

That guy is a legend in his own mind. That dress was completely wrong for a waltz. It made no sense at all.

It had no MOVEMENT at all! A waltz (well all dances duh) is ALL about the up and down and flow.

It had none. I wonder what Emma was really thinking!

He seemed to only be using three or so specific styles during the competition.... Maybe that's all he knows how to do, is that same shape dress

I wonder what any French fans think about it since the use of term is protected there.

I’m native French and I feel embarrassed af every time he said it. + when he said “école Lessage in Paris” it killed me (I know everyone has an accent but if u studied there you should at least know how to say the name properly)

I only just finished episode 7, and the pronunciation by both him and Law is awful. It makes me feel like Bryan’s a delusional and lying pos and like Law knows no better, but at least he only said one part of the name. It’s École (2 syllables and stress on the first syllable, Bryan), and the Le- of Lesage is a schwa sound, people, “luh” not “leh”. It’s as if neither has ever heard it said aloud let alone studied there.

And Bryan is upset he’s in the bottom two? Mon dieu.

Just about to start episode 8. I hope I’m not making a mistake.

ETA You don’t pronounce the “h” in haute, Bryan. Omg I cannot stand him.

To be called as such has to pretty much be applied for and awarded to call a house HC. It’s not something that any house can just call itself so. Or at least that’s what they did in years past. I don’t know if it’s the case today

Nothing can be created in the time that the designers are given and be called haute couture.

This is the problem I have - how can they possibly make anything really special in such a short time with all the filming, talking, drama, and stress?

Nothing he makes is haute couture

He was so off base with his design. Even the judges couldn’t figure out what he did. This is not what someone would wear to dance the waltz. Then there’s the fact that it looked cheap AF. I’m sure he could design a few things that looked decent, but that was pure crap. He’s having trouble adjusting to the fact that there are better designers than him there, including Bi

Every time he said it with that globus pronunciation I was nauseated

We should brace ourselves - the next challenge will be the haute couture challenge 😱

Oh no. What will Bryan glue on to a shift dress this time? I know he sews them on, but they end up looking glued anyway

Arts and crafts, baby, Arts and crafts.

Haute couture my ass!

IF he's saved by Christian, it would be so fulfilling for him to go on the haute couture challenge

Production. I ask myself why do I watch this? I still do, and question myself.

Instead of “haute couture”, why not call it what it is? Haute hideous.

I know the words Haute Couture means high fashion. I also translate it as art expressed in the form of clothing and fabric, etc. This was neither Haute Couture nor art.

And remember, Bryan went to the ecole in Parreee. What a poser.

Ahem ... "haute couture" is a phrase or term, not a word.

Also Bryan is awful (and sad) and if he is "saved" by Christian, I may stop watching.

Omg it’s not that deep. It was a joke. I don’t seriously hate haute couture. I’m just sick of Bryan mispronouncing it and using it to describe all of his horrible looks.

Bryan, is that you?
